"Would like to transfer to San Diego State"

I was going over the Cerritos College media guide, and apparently during the interviews for the bio sections, players are asked where would they like to transfer to. As one would expect, many named PAC 12 or SEC schools, but I counted eight falcons who would like to transfer to San Diego State.

Eight might not be a big number, but I think this is an indication that SDSU's football image is turning around. Certainly there are players at other JuCos and HSs that must already know they want to play at SDSU.

Out of the eight, six are defensive players and two are offensive players.

I remember Davion Mauldin, a DB from Cerritos College (signing class of 2008), was a pretty decent player for the Aztecs

Many of the offers we have out to JC guys, also have offers (many offers) from SEC and Big12 schools. We have had some success with JC guys.

The problem is when we "reach" for a guy that just won't graduate, and that is what was happening during the Craft years.

The JC guys we are looking at now would not have all the big time offers if they were not going to qualify.

That's a one off who was eligible right out of high school but got no offers because he just started playing football. 99% of JC players are there because of grades.

Shall I list all of the JC guys we signed over the past ten years and who actually made it into school, who actually contributed on the field, and who actually graduated??

The HC for El Camino is Jon Featherstone, a WR for the Aztecs in 1969.

We built the program on JC kids and JC Coaches. Very few kids were recruited by big named schools in the old days. We could not recruit high school because we never got to over 55 scholarships.

The JC coaches liked us because we did not take High School kids away from them.

Every JC kid could play right away and they were serious and mature.

The JC coaches were taught by Don Coryell and wanted to move up like their players.

Riley Gauld is doing a nice job at guard. Manhandled a couple of 3-4 star recruits for the win at Boise. Not bad for an Allan Hancock CC kid.
