So read the headline this morning from the Honolulu Star Advertiser. Spent the week on the islands and I about fell out of my chair this morning when I read this. It requires a subscription but essentially says that had they had no turnovers and played offensively and defensively like the first drives of the second half they would have won. Also goes on to to say that SDSU isn't of the same caliber as USC, BYU, or Nevada. The locals I have come across aren't very happy with Chow... www.staradvertiser.com/s?action=login&f=y&id=173018181

This. They have a QB with a mediocre arm, not a single skill player who's a threat to take it the distance, nobody you have to worry about on their defense, an unimaginative offense and they couldn't do the Haka for $#!+. They did punt well, however.

The Honolulu Advertizer must be syndicated with the Bizzaro World Associate Press.

This is insane. What I witnessed was actually a sad attempt for a D-1 program.
Chow is the answer as is Kaumeyer- they (like Lower Nevada) have the coaching just are missing the pesky player piece.

We are not the same caliber as USC (few teams are), BYU(hopefully one day) Nevada (with a better coach we would be).
So at least they got that part right!

hilarious.
Hawaii might be even tougher to build a college football team than San Diego lol

"Make no mistake UH could have won this" .... if they would have had the same refs that had vision problems in the 4th quarter of the Charger game last night in N.O.

No, they had ZERO chance. Even with YBU's RelayGate "Officials/Alumni" they still get hammered.
Homers are one thing- H "Star" is way out of reality.

If a couple calls went Hawaii's way...you never know...lol, talk about a team being a non-factor! I felt really bad for Khaumeyer though, I like him.

They "could have won this" if Hawaii was a much better team and we were a much worse team.

They may have had no chance as far as winning the game goes, but that dance they did before the game was pretty darned cool.

Make no mistake, The Aztecs could have doubled their first half 35 to end the game with 70.

Bill, you're probably correct. They outscored us 7-3 in the third quarter when it looked like we came out a bit flat after half time. Take away that quarter and we outscored them 49-7 the rest of the game and even that seven points was a gift after one of our guys was guilty of a completely unnecessary block in the back on a nice return by Vizzi, thereby pinning us inside our 10 when we would have started that drive close to midfield. Hawaii might have some injuries but they also have serious talent problems and the coaching was poor as well. (Sorry, McQ, but I checked the UH board and they're not exactly impressed with Kaumeyer.)
