hmmm... so we will likely not be impacted unless we get a mega TV deal - but, if we are not required to provide the academic scholarships for injured players and the PAC is, they could be used against us in recruiting (not that we do very well against them to begin with).... will be interesting to see how this shakes out.

Gov. Brown sures likes to give money away even when it isn't his.

Watch out for those pesky banana peels on your way to practice.

Hopefully, we will make enough money for this to affect us. It will help our recruiting. Those schools that do not offer such coverage will have their recruiting negatively impacted.

Zurac is correct. The price just went up to compete with the PAC 12 california schools. If it affects SDSU we will kill SJSU and fresno in recruiting not to mention any out of state western school (with a few exceptions) who cant offer a similar option.

In football haven't we done this anyway? Isn't the kid with the irregular heart beat or whatever it was on scholly still? I forget his name, King?

In football haven't we done this anyway? Isn't the kid with the irregular heart beat or whatever it was on scholly still? I forget his name, King? His name is Preston King, but I'm not sure of his current status. There is more to this than continuing schollies for injured players. There are also covering insurance deductibles for athletes and medical insurance premiums for "low income" athletes and paying "future medical costs" for injuries (no mention of limitations in the article). Also, this affects all sports, not just football. New recruiting pitch - "They only offer an HMO - we've got PPO! We even cover chiropractor visits!" Road. Hell. Good intentions.

This is great news for the cigarette smoking and knife throwing teams.

I wonder if this will extend to club teams? (On a related note, the Aztec Hockey team is taking on Colorado State at the Kroc Center tonight at 9 p.m.)

Does not apply to club teams.
Also, the LAO states that the CSU informed the rules committee that SDSU would meet the threshold starting next year.

I think the 10mil barrier is a good one, if we make that money, we should take care of the kids; if we don't, we should at least provide schollys for kids that have a legitimate injury that prevents them from continuing

At $10 mil this would be a great problem to have.
