Holly Smoke! The dollar is now down to about 89 yen to the buck. Just how low must our currency go before we here in the United States figure out that Obama is spending us into the "poorhouse"? This is the most irresponsible administration since Carter and by the time Obama has finished his one and only term will there be anything at all left of the dollar? Will Obama replace Carter as the worst President in our lifetime and maybe in history?

In a democracy, if the voters don't do their homework before they vote, well, things can get bad fast. It's certainly clear to me that the U.S. would be better off with John McCain in the White House to balance Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. For a start, I doubt we would have had an 800,000 dollar pork bill.
Too many voters must have thought things couldn't get any worse. Think again.

Do any of you miss President Bush, yet?
Either Dubya, Bush 41, it doesn’t really matter at this point. Obama has a way of making us miss Nixon.

Let's see.... the reason I paid 1.5 dollars for 1 Euro last week is solely because of Obama? Man.... he must be more evil than Europe itself!!!! If you listen to the Right...Europe = Russia or worse.... does this mean Europe is btter than us...(while Obama is President)?.... how far the mighty have fallen.

If the dollar is so devalued vs. the Yen and Euro, shouldn't our exports be way up?

If the dollar is so devalued vs. the Yen and Euro, shouldn't our exports be way up? Good question! Why are they not? Maybe because most of our manufacturing has been move over seas? We continue to claim we have this large manufacturing base, but it's mostly because our companies do not manufacture anything in this country. And quite frankly, I find this rather funny. When Taft-Hartley was passed, the Republicans loved it because it transferred a ton of New England industrial strength to the South. But as soon as those companies determined that they could get manufacturing much cheaper in Asian sweatshops, they hauled ass for Taiwan, then China, then Vietnam, India and Malaysia. In the meantime, what we've become is a "headquarters nation". Nike is a perfect example of that. It's an American company that does no manufacturing in this country; it relies upon Vietnamese sweatshops. So our conquest of Vietnam is complete even though we supposedly "lost the war". What would happen to Vietnam if every American corporation engaged in Vietnamese sweat shops pulled out? In short, the South has no reason to bitch. They made their point in the '50s and '60s by offering open shops and denying unions and now they are pissed that they cannot meet Asian pay. They assumed, because of their history, that workers who were paid close to slave wages would always be able to compete. Damn shame they were proven wrong. =Bob

Don't you see that our problem can not be addressed in only one facet? The first order of business is to get out insane spending in hand. You can spend today and pay back tomorrow with cheaper dollars only so long. This non-stimulus bill that Obama got passed where the money has gone up in smoke along with Bush's TARP are much bigger problems than the additional costs that unions bring to make us less competitive.
