Even though Syracuse is always VERY talented, they will be losing their top 3 players from last year. I don't think their young players will have the famous Syracuse Zone up to speed when we play them game # 1.
Ya, ya. As competitors, you want to beat someone at their best. MORE importantly, we want a win against a BIG-TIME program.

They are coached very, very well and they prove it year-in and year-out. Maybe this is the toughest 1st game Cuse has played in a while, but make no mistake, they will be ready to play some ball on that carrier.

Fear I have in regards to the zone is that it tends to make teams rely more on outside shots, which could be a struggle outdoors and without a backdrop behind the hoops.

UNLV came in at #13. Can't wait for BB season to start. Looking forward to the 2 possibly 3 battles between the Rebels and Aztecs.

#15 sounds reasonable. We will know how good of a team we will have by the time December rolls around. I am looking forward to seeing how we can perform against Syracuse, UCLA, and the matchups in the Diamond Head classic. With some quality wins in these games, we could be a very good team.

I see us being able to do a lot of slashing and a lot of lob throwing. This team will thrive in the open court, transition game. Literally every fastbreak for us should end with a dunk.

Pre-season rankings don't matter as much in BB since there are so many more games. We started out unranked a couple of years ago and rose to #4. I'm just nervous about those first few games.

So what's the difference? Good point. Not a very big difference when you look at it on paper. If I had to point something out, our "weakness" should be in the front court. But then you remember that Polee and O'brien have been practicing with the team for a year now, and Stephens, according to some on here, is positioning himself for a breakout senior year. You combine that with what should be a real solid backcourt, and the sky could be the limit for our team. Of course the real question marks will be our three freshman, and that's expected. But like Cuse, we are also very well coached and our guys will also be ready for the big stage come November.

Hopefully catching them early is a case of good timing for us but the road runs both ways. The good news is it won't be considered a bad loss no matter who wins. Go Aztecs!

There is no way our vets are going to let us lose the Midway game.

Cuse fans are saying the same thing. I think we win but no way we lose? You're dreaming.

Syracuse is in my opinion one of the more overlooked teams in the country this upcoming year. Very rarely do you say that of a blue blood but it is the case here. Now that Fair is going to have the offense run through him everyone will see just how good he is, expect about 15 points a night from him to go along with 7 rebounds. Along with that you have bigs like Southerland, Coleman, and Christmas all of which can produce very good minutes when called upon.
The only real question from Syracuse comes in the backcourt, I am a big believe in Michael Carter Williams he is going to surprise a lot of people but outside of him and Triche they look to have poor depth there. May have to play Grant some back there.
