The first half of the CIFSDS season will be history this week. www.calpreps.com/cgi-bin/2012/weekview.pl?week=10_5The big game appears to be Eastlake taking on Saint Augustine at Mesa College. Mission Hills vs Oceanside pits two teams who play hard-nosed football in the battle for bragging rights along HWY 78. What other game will you follow?

Question about San Diego Section ball. Looking at the polls some of the D2 teams are at the top or near it. More than the D1 schools. Is D2 considered a stronger division here, despite enrollment?

Question about San Diego Section ball. Looking at the polls some of the D2 teams are at the top or near it. More than the D1 schools. Is D2 considered a stronger division here, despite enrollment? See the Divisions here www.cifsds.org/index.php/coachesThe Divisions are very arbitrary. The CIFSDS wants/needs five Divisions but there are only 72 teams playing football in San Diego and Imperial counties. So the teams are ranked by enrollment and divided by the number of teams needed in a Division to allow a playoff. For example, start at the top of the list, count down 18, draw a line to produce Division I. Division Enrollment # of teams # of playoff teams 1 2520 above___ 18 12 2 2460-2086____ 17 12 3 2062-1642 _____ 18 12 4 1641-681______ 17 12 5 554 and below 20 12 8 man NA 8 NA
