This is a disturbing reminder of what can happen when decisions are made on other than market based considerations. I still feel for the home owners, but hope that the voters in that jurisdiction throw those bums out.

It turns out that the City of Escondido does not have that power. It was mentioned in one of the articles relating to the Chargers possible move.

It turns out that the City of Escondido does not have that power. It was mentioned in one of the articles relating to the Chargers possible move. Much as I would like to see a new stadium, I would not want eminent domain powers for other than valid reasons. Taking land to give to a developer just does not seem to me to fit the bill. If Oceanside were to be selected it would seem like the land owners will be enriched and that is not a bad thing in my view. If anyone has other thoughts, couch it in terms of taking property away from one private party to give to another.
