I really hate to poop on all of this enthusiasm and support but...
Yep, totally aware. Part of the logistical adventure is having TVs aboard, but this shouldn't be a problem.
The goals for this are severalfold:
- The Aztecs are going to be on a ship for what I consider a home game, but at a price and/or availability that's out of reach for most of us. Since most of us would otherwise be at a bar with fellow Aztec fans watching this, we might as well be at a bar on a ship too.
- Random dive bar or bar on a ship on the bay in one of the most beautiful cities in the world? Easy choice for me.
- This is an awesome opportunity to watch the game with dedicated Aztec fans of every generation and enjoy a night on the bay.
- Battle of the Midway is a great excuse to do this, but it could be an awesome annual gathering. But I'm getting way ahead of myself.
Possibly delusional and overly optimistic goals:
- Players know our fan base is rabid and that we'll always be watching. Knowing we're out there with them, despite not being able to see directly, may give them a little extra edge.
- We get any kind of TV coverage, further solidifying our position as some of the best college basketball fans in the country.
- Potential recruits see solid support, even during game one when tickets are $500-$1500 each. We'll be out there with our team.
More than anything, if they're going to play a game outside the V while on a ship, we're going to have a great time watching them outside the V while on a ship. This is going to be a great time.
