On an important note, let's try and keep the bandwagon excitement for the Kings to a minimum, please. It's distracting to our fellow Sharks fans who, despite supporting years of terrible hockey with constant sellouts and have shown the ability to support a club for more than 1/4th of a season, are diligently focusing on how to extract the Cup that the current holders (....and fans.....) have no business having in their possession. 'preciate it! Not everyone is a bandwagoner. The one constant throughout the years - Bob Miller. Some of us remember good ol' Luc Robitaille (spl.) roaming the ice. IIRC, Jeremy Roenick was a King briefly. Could be worse.

'preciate it! Lol @ Shark Fans. Years of terrible hockey? Your team was finishing atop the standings for years and you averaged like 300 more fans a game than the Kings (while the Kings were at the bottom of the standings). The last two years the Kings have had a higher average attendance than SJ. I was playing hockey and going to Kings games before the Sharks were a franchise or the Mighty Sucks were a movie. Take that bandwagon nonsense out of here. Btw, why does Nor Cal always hate? Without the Kings and Dodgers you wouldn't have the Sharks or Giants. You should thank us. ..Sent from my Samsung GS3..

Oh, don't get your panties all messy over an obviously exaggerated comment. And yes, years of terrible hockey. I'm not going to pretend the franchise is the Chicago Cub equivalent... but 11-71-2 is far beyond anything experienced by a Kings fan (although 14-52-10 is pretty bad . San Jose sold out those sub-20 win seasons. Although I suppose it's irrelevant - just like your comment. That's cool that LA has averaged more fans... in a buliding that seats nearly 2,000 more. Had to get a playoff team to make that happen though. If you've been into the Kings since "day 1", right on. Plenty of friends that are die-hard, too. But a bitter response to an obvious joke tells me you know damn well your fanbase sucks, is riding a bandwagon wave, and will go back to asking "which one is Kobe?" soon enough.

Three reasons I grew up watching the Dodgers, Lakers, and Kings

That's pretty much the last thing that I'll ever get from a message board. I just like owning shark fans, makes me smile. Speaking of which, your sub-20 win argument is so weak. Those all occurred in the first few years of being an expansion franchise. New franchises in new buildings almost always do well in attendance and the teams usually aren't very good. In a city without another professional sports franchise nonetheless. Since that time the Sharks have put out a competitive team almost every year so it's no surprise that the attendance is still good. Your team hasn't been bad enough for long enough to gauge what that bandwagon looks like. Suck for a few years now and it'll be pretty obvious. ..Sent from my Samsung GS3..

Okay, so we're both playing weak arguments. But at least your "expansion team attendance" argument is the weakest. C'mon, look at Columbus or Nashville in their early years. And there's hardly a lack of major sports in the Silicon Valley. 30 - 45 min proximity to baseball, football, and basketball.
Unfortunately, we won't know how fast Shark fans bail off the bandwagon until it happens. You're probably right, though. It's generally true of any California sports product.
Hockey is an afterthought in LA. That's not the case in San Jose (which is heavy 49er, Giant, and Warrior territory). In a city without football, what's your excuse? And, aside from perhaps you and tens of other Kings fans, does anyone even care?
