Football Stadium of course. But that dream went out the door when they built the V on top of Aztec Bowl. Only hope for new stadium is on the current site or downtown... in all probability shared with the chargers (yuck!). I believe SDSU will have a BB practice facility on campus within 5 years. That spot never would have been a football stadium the day it became a historic landmark(and that is silly anyway just because JFK spoke there in 63) You couldn't fit a football stadium in that spot if you have to keep those bleachers - Viejas was the only way that wasn't going to be on par with a meteor crater

Ideally, you would want to close down College Avenue and put in an underground tunnel then take over Hardy Elementary, demolish all of the houses between Hardy and Montezuma, condemn all of the perimeter property within a mile of the SDSU Bookstore, get a billion dollar donation from Doug Manchester or some "under the radar government department" like Caltrans or the EPA and get a waiver on all the city permits/approvals, state permits/approvals, fed. gov permits/approvals and hope that someone has the guts to do it. My guess.....you'll get better odds flying to Pluto. However, if you can find some guy like Doug or Sanchez or Warren Buffett to fund the deal,.......then maybe the odds are less than flying to Pluto. My guess is $1.0 to $2.0 billion to start meaning $4.0 to $8.0 billion to finish in........2080 or thereabouts. I understand Premier Barack has "fast-tracked" it for approval.

put the money in developing an even better team. Recruiting budget, coaching staff.. Most paying customers come to see winning teams and players. Spend the money on getting better recruits

I can't believe people are picking a bb practice facility. This board never ceases to amaze me.

Standiego,
No, no, no. As Americans we need to be fleeced regularly. And of course, Americans should never be fleeced. Otherwise you can't claim to be American. The poll left out having a bee hive at the Starbuck's Coffee shop as an option. (See IRS Reg # 04-145, BLM Reg. # 648000, EPA Fed Reg. # 421-000- 6453 and CA Reg. # 02-182-483). Summary pages total approx 45k.

I could care less about Basketball.I would close it down for two good safetys that could defend against the pass and tackle. on campus stadium give me a break,we are a commuter school. I wouldn't consider SDSU a commuter school since there are around 8K-10K students on campus and growing.

This is kind of irrelevant as one is nearly funded and another is just someones wet dream. Have some details on that? There is money (a lot but not enough) committed for the basketball facility. The RFP has already been solicited and responded to by many world-class design and construction firms. There is no money, that I know of, committed for a football facility. Wet dream.

I graduated mid 2000, it was definitely still a commuter school in the over all sense of things. With the completion of the new paseo development, or whatever they are calling it now, it should attract a lot of ancillary development in terms of new apartments, etc.

Too bad Chris Hansen didn't develop a love of SDSU FB when he attended SDSU, as much as he cares about Seattle pro BB. If Hansen cared that stadium would be underway by now. It looks like Seattle will get their $500 million pro BB, pro hockey, concert arena!

I don't think a on campus Stadium is feasible. We are on a perfect location now and just need to have some leadership in the City to cooperate with the SDSU Administration to redevelop. Oh god, here I go agreeing with Win again. Our campus footprint would never support a football stadium and the other infrastructure to support it. A basketball practice facility would fit nicely behind the arena.

I don't believe its public information yet, but when it is I am sure the board will find out quickly. IMO, I think $13M is a bit lean for what they want to achieve but well see. Mendenhall Center was built in Las Vegas in a depressed market and the construction was self-performed by a Mendenhall owned company. VCU released an RFP last week for 38,000 SF facility and they are tracking $11M for construction cost budget, so maybe its possible. They are also connecting their new center to the arena via a new underground tunnel which is neat.

hea, great news since you sound pretty sure on it. Figured they must have some lead if they posted it a few months back.

hea, great news since you sound pretty sure on it. Figured they must have some lead if they posted it a few months back. Eh, who knows. They definitely need more money. The good thing is the design/build team selected by the current RFP have money to get the drawings to the schematic level, so once the final funding is secured they won't have to wait for concepts and schematics to be completed. Ideally this would be completed prior to the 2014 basketball season, but who knows.
