Not sure what to make of the team so far having played a mediocre Washington, a horrific army team and an above average 1aa. San Jose is, sadly, a similar team talent wise, so I'd guess we'll learn the most about the team this week Sadly similar talent wise? SJSU received votes for top 25 this week. Did we?

What's missing from all of the game analyses I've seen on this board since last Saturday night? Giving the opponent credit for playing an outstanding game, that's what. The notion that because they're FCS we should have beat them handily is nonsense. I fell into that trap myself BEFORE we played them and BEFORE I had seen a single down of UND football. After watching them, I now know that they have an outstaying college QB, a couple of receivers that can play on almost any D1 FBS squad and a pretty damn good coach. They played with heart and discipline. It doesn't diminish our squad in any way by admitting these things. Did they expose some of our weaknesses? You bet! That happens whenever you play a good opponent. but it also gave us some insight into our strengths. They didn't even try to run the rock after awhile. We DID get pressure on the QB, he was just really good at escaping and re-setting his feet to make a good throw. WE absolutely destroyed them with our running game and I feel MUCH better about Katz when he has time to set and throw. Escobar was so wide open on a couple of plays you would think he had a force field around him. If I take away one negative it's that our DB's have trouble with big receivers. I noticed in the UW game and I saw the same thing with UND's big guy. other than that, Football is about adjustments. We'll adjust, SJSU will adjust and we'll see what happens Saturday. Good points. But I do believe I've given UND their fair share of credit. I've seen a few other posters do the same. But really, its not about the opponent. Its about our team, and how we played. I really don't care who we play. Hopefully, our players don't either. When the defense was graded out on their performance Saturday how did they do? What do you think?

After watching the game recorded, i think Ty Detmer was RE-incarnated into that quarterback. I Don't see that happening two weeks in a row. Small, elusive QB with arm + Big O-line + quick receiving corps + lousy defense = BYU of 91- 92 = North Dakota 2012 Indeed, I felt like I was watching the 52-52 tie game all over again. At least we didn't run the 46 defense. Oldie Out Ugh, I remember that 52-52 tie game oh too well. Marshall Faulk did not play the second half. I'm sure that had something to do with the outcome. Your comparison of them to the BYU team is dead on though... Goes to show a good coach with a great game plan and anyone can win on any given day. It all comes down to Ryan Katz if he can continue his progression of learning and running the offense.

When we play soft zone, they move the chains and score at will. After reviewing the recent SJSU highlights, I believe we will be tested, no doubt. Oldie Out

Ummm...San Jose State received a single vote in the coaches poll this week. Perusing the list of voters, you'll see one voter named "Mike MacIntyre," who also happens to have a job as the head coach of San Jose State. So, it is possible that he placed his team at #25 this week. (That being said, Rocky Long also has a vote, and may have decided to vote SJSU as #25 to inspire the team...)

It was only one vote. That would be lame if the SJSU coach voted his team in. Think it was Stanfords coach?

A few points.
1. The coaches' poll is horse manure and means next to nothing. 2. Old School is right on about playing zone. With a shutdown corner like McFadden I fail to understanding doing that more than half a dozen plays per game just to mess with the opposing QB. 3. I don't care what scheme we used, we gave up 434 yards passing to a second string FCS QB. (Insert gag emoticon.)

My mid-week thoughts are the same. The ND tape will be used by teams to exploit our pass defense all season long. Fortunately, our offense is looking strong so all we have to do is outscore the other team. Ah.... with a couple of exceptions our remaining opponents do not have the offensive weapons (QB, OL, WRs) we faced against UND. Let them try. I think our pass defense will be fine save the BSU, UNR, ***AND SJSU*** games. However, SJSU OL doesn't have the size of UNDs and hopefully not the experience. SJSU will be a challenge too 289 versus 309 6'4 versus 6'6. Better talent a little, Oline is a position a walkons can become good player,if they are big and work hard, such as Big Mike Houghten. some times you weakness just ahppens ot be the other guys stength,Max Schemilig remaqtch it was other way around. Learn form you mistakes.
