The full basketball schedule is now out. Other than Syracuse and UCLA, not really impressed with the other non-conference games. Why is it so tough to schedule quality opponents? I hope we meet Arizona in Diamond Head Classics...It will help us the resume a bit.

Blah, blah, blah... I'm so damn numb to this rant..
Just sit down and think beyond the schedule for one second.
SDSU bball is just starting to solidify itself as a relavent national power out west. In other words, if we continue our upward trend, "better" OOC teams will want to play us and be willing to take the trip to San Diego. There will come a time when losing to SDSU will not be considered a "bad loss" and beating us will be a "good win" for other programs. It's actually that simple.
You combine that with ESPN/Fox exposure from the BW and some BE coin, and it will make playing against us that much more favorable. Also, don't forget about our deal to play some BE teams starting next year in home-and-home series. Memphis could be here as soon as next year.
I can't believe that people are actually complaining about the best OOC schedule we've ever had.

It's threads like these that make me not worried that I am going to be able to get good tickets, at or below face value for MWC play.
San Diego still has a ways to go to be a basketball town.

BTW, I agree with you, but am not surprised by some here.

Doesn't happen anywhere. Take a look at other ranked teams' OOC schedules. We have two "name" programs, a probable meeting with a third, plus a winnable road game against a team whose name is bigger than their ability. If you come in bitching, come in with a solution.

Tell that to all of us who make Viejas one of the most special home courts in the nation. That's preaching to the choir. The thread was started because the OP wasn't impressed with the difficulty of the schedule beyond Syracuse, UCLA, and a possible matchup with UofA. It's perspectives like this that make me not worried about buying tickets for MWC play at face value. It's not an easy schedule. There is a very real possibility that our team will enter February 2013 with a 15-5 or 14-6 record. I certainly hope the players and coaches react better than the fans will.

Syracuse, UCLA, USC, UCSB and most likely Arizona. You have to put some cupcakes in there. The MWC is going to be tough this year.

I've got no issue with the non-conference schedule. I would like us to schedule more series with MVC teams. Wichita State & Creighton were awesome/exciting home games the past 2 seasons.

I guess it's all relative. Not even a decade ago we would have been stoked to get one fringe top-25 team on our plate.

We had a similar schedule a couple years ago and we made it up to #4 in the nation and to the Sweet 16. That wasn't so bad to go through.

In our non-conference, we are potentially playing for 3 great wins, all at neutral sites, 6 good wins, 2 on the road, 2 at home and 2 neutral and 5 meaningless wins, all at home.
Seems like a pretty balanced, good schedule that should prepare us for conference.
Our conference will be very good with UNLV, New Mexico and Colo St being resume wins, Nevada, Fresno being good wins and air force, Boise and Wyoming being decent wins.
We don't need to overload our OOC like LB St didlast year to get enough good wins to be an at large.
If we finish the year with 7 losses or less, we should get another top 6 seed for the 3rd year in a row and position ourselves for a run in the tourney.
