If we can somehow land this 2014 kid, he'll be the best PG to ever play at SDSU. He's like DJ Gay but with NBA size and athleticism.

There's no question that McLaughlin is a great PG and that SDSU will make him a priority for the 2014 class, but 5'11 is not NBA size. Unless he grew 3-4 inches since then. I don't want to underestimate your grassroots analysis. ;D

He'd be the best player to ever play at SDSU. Better than Jamaal and Kawhi.

I don't want to split hairs here, but if we land any one of the PG's we're going after next year, he would be the best PG we've ever had on the team.
I can see McLaughlin being the best player to ever play here as well if he does fill out frame-wise. And if he came to the mesa, he could possibly be our first one-and-done prospect.
UCLA is going at him hard, though. Howland wanted a commit from him when he was down there earlier this summer, but he did not get it. It sounds like he is interested in our program, though and wants to visit.

He's done well so far in other challenges, hasn't he!

Instead of going after 2nd and 3rd tier guys, he gives SDSU an honest shot to land any player in the Top 100.

I agree with your assessment on McLaughlin, while PJC has better court vision and is a better passer. McLaughlin's other assets make up for that, he is strong, athletic, finishes very well in traffic, he is also a good but not great passer, and will get to the line a lot at the next level. He also has all the traits to be a lockdown defender.

TJM got his 1st varsity experience as scorer off the bench. His soph year he was clearly his teams best offensive threat with very limited options to pass to. We won't see the full scope of his passing ability until later in his career. His ability to attack and create shots for others in at an elit level already. Look at the passes he makes in this video: ballislife.com/wtw-jordan-mclaughlin/

By my senior year in high school I was a 5' 11.5" shooting guard. I am worried about this kid, if we get him BBA may not go away after Jamaal graduates.

Who are we kidding? We have no shot at this kid.. He has been offered by 5 Pac 10 teams and 3-4 others. He would be a great get for sure.

Dakarai Allen was a legit UCLA target and had a visit with Coach Howland 1-2 before committing. Neither Bland nor Fisher appear likely to turn away from a recruit based simply on other schools in the mix.

UCLA was a late add to Dakarai's offers this is completley different. All signs point to PJC going to AZ which would surely make McLaughlin UCLA's top PG target, he has already taken unofficials there and will be tough to pull away from UCLA for sure.

UCLA was on Allen for a good 5+ months. The offer may have come late in the process, but the relationship, specifically with UCLA Assistant Coach Matthews, was in place for months. Great win for SDSU as Allen was a legit UCLA target/want. According to Bruins.com's Edward Lewis "They (UCLA) wanted him (Allen), don't think there's any doubt about that".

UCLA occasionally called him and when he was asked in a interview about a month before the offer whether UCLA was recruiting him hard he said no, this is different. McLaughlin got a UCLA offer early and is clearly one of their top target from the beggining on the 2014 class.
