With baseball, he has too much time to meander into all the stupid stories about himself. At least with basketball and football, he doesn't have much time for that. Either way, he's way too overexposed in San Diego for my tastes. I'd love to see some of the younger announcers in town get more chances to prove their worth. What young local guys did you have in mind? C'mon Man! We seem to have about as much luck doing that as we do in signing reliable kickers. The announcing last night, in Ted's absence, was just pitiful.

Uncle Teddy and Ello are awful to listen to. I just watch the game cast. I have no problem with Ted...he's an oustanding play-by-play guy for both football and basketball You must be Teedie's agent, or have some blood or heretic bond relationship, or you're Teedie itself. Teedie is the worst. He is so detrimental to the Aztec sports programs, it is not fun knee. Now, Sir John Fricke was the guy, but the media pulled him because he WAS creating interest over the airwaves for the Aztecs. Yes, it is collusion and not a conspiracy. The pac-fudge, bcs rats, must keep their monopoly intact. HAM

In regards to Mr. Ello, while I appreciate all of his efforts and love that he's an Aztecs fan he is really negative. I had to stop following him on Twitter, he's really harsh.

I'd like to at least see if they can assist so they get a tryout. I have a feeling Teddy is hard to work with though - just speculating.

I know Andy Masur calls USD hoops, has anyone heard him call a hoops game?

I realize that this thread is about Ello. I've always enjoyed his talk shows (although NOT with Ben Higgins). On the Aztec broadcasts, when I've heard him he is indeed a Debbie Downer. However, he's basically one of us. He's an alum who gets pissed off and frustrated. It's understandable, but that kinda stuff doesn't belong on a game broadcast. I do a lot of communication. Something like this is a really easy fix. He needs to know its not working and potentially hurting his reach. The old SDSU fan base (sorry, gang) really seemed to like the Debbie Downer-- I called it Eeyore--- thing. But SDSU has turned the corning in both football and basketball. We expect to win. And we expect those who are representing the Aztecs, even those calling the game & doing color... to have a positive outlook on the team. That's that new SDSU. Craig is smart, he can fix it. All-in-all, it's an easy fix.

Eric's call of the Vista Painters, ah, "One more kick at the can?"
Really?
"...you saw him in the list, listed here." Okay, so this is nitpicking...but, what the hcal is the score? Vinny used a one minute egg timer or something like that to insure that he gave the Dogers' score every minute.
Eric's voice is too dry voice and sounds too much like the la homer who calls some high school games. Eric is good in that he tries to just call the game play. The partner guy should not "hold his nose" while he calls the game. Meh like above is posted.
But, yeah, Eric's voice is too dry for broadcasting.

Ello is unlistenable doing games or on his radio show. Uncle Teddy should have been put out to pasture 15 years ago.
Our basketball program for sure deserves better, for football I am not sure it matters.

I have heard it's the same guy who is the DJ here... www.live365.com/stations/b5erik (Reliable sources say that it's the best Rock Radio on the internet.)

Do you work for or with Tony Robbins or whoever that motivational dude is? Nothing like proving my point. Just sayin'

You know, in all honesty, it is amazing that AztecWilliam and I can put out the kind of webcasts that we do for the Vista games. We have no production staff, no spotters, no statisticians - we do it all ourselves.
I'd love to have a shot at doing something with a pro production team. Trying to do two or three jobs while simultaneously trying to call a game is hard. But it's still a lot of fun.
As is Vista Records Radio! (Thanks for the kind words, John. I just updated the playlist with 4 new songs - it gets updated daily to keep the thing fresh. There are only a couple songs still on the playlist that were there a month ago.)

Has there ever been a more negative color guy than Mr. Ello...sure...he's being objective...but leave objectivity for national broadcast...I want to hear an Aztec homer in my home broadcasts... Why? It's good being objective then you know he is calling a fair & straight game with no biased remarks.

I was thinking the same thing bout our radio broadcasts last week. I love Teddy for baseball and even hoops, but he and Ello though they do a lot of great work for SDSU, are not exciting. If there was a Josh Lewin type of energy on the play by play that would kick! I Love listening to Chargers on the radio!

I have no problem with either. Homer PBP or color commentators are the worst. I want to know what is going on, not what a stupid fan sees. One of the reasons I love Vin Scully and Bob Miller is they keep it objective. Ted and Chris will never sniff that level of broadcaster but at least they try.

I know Andy Masur calls USD hoops, has anyone heard him call a hoops game? Also, contrary to common perception, he does NOT talk about ANY aspect of his personal life during game broadcasts. He never has. He did when he was involved with talk radio. People remember that and they say that he does it during games. I guess if you say something enough times, people will start to believe it... Not saying he talks about his personal life, but he will go off on a tangent about some uninteresting thing that he did during the day in his hotel room, or will go into his false humility mode talking about all the things he does in his broadcasting career. Listen for it some time. It won't take long.
