Has there ever been a more negative color guy than Mr. Ello...sure...he's being objective...but leave objectivity for national broadcast...I want to hear an Aztec homer in my home broadcasts...

Yes but us Aztec fans are naturally pessimistic and miserable

Always something to complain about here.

He is one of the worst hoops announcers ever. I would love a young fresh voice for the Aztecs that could grow over the next 20 years.

I've been doing Vista Panther football play by play on the internet for 11 years now. I'd be glad to do the Aztec football play by play. And I'll do it for a lot less than Ted does...

With baseball, he has too much time to meander into all the stupid stories about himself. At least with basketball and football, he doesn't have much time for that. Either way, he's way too overexposed in San Diego for my tastes. I'd love to see some of the younger announcers in town get more chances to prove their worth.

I like Ted for hoops. He can't describe a hoops game as it is happening, the game is to fast paced for his style and he has no color guy to help him out. Plus, he needs to give time and score more than every 5 minutes of game clock.

I am a big fan of Uncle Teddy but I have to admit the play by play was hard to follow.

For football I'm neutral on Teddy. I've never listened to a Padres broadcast. But for basketball he is unbearable.

You hit exactly missiontrails, when he has more time he becomes unlistenable and boring and annoying as hell. In baseball, he cannot let up on money---his and players---and preaching to us about the time a pitcher may take on the mound, or how horribly long a game is taking. As if he has a pressing business meeting to attend after he's just put in this awful 3 hour shift. (And oh, by the way, made maybe $20,000 in the process for that 3 hours)

I guess I'm in the minority that digs on Ted's call of the game, whether it be with a roundball or otherwise. He's something of a local institution - when he was the 'regular' sports broadcaster for Ch. 8, he was well known for this proclivity to opine. But rarely was it that he wasn't entertaining.
As far as putting old broadcasters out to pasture, for me personally, the line begins - and ends - somewhere this side of Harry Caray.

Another reason to attend games... you don't have to listen to the radio broadcast.
