SDSU hasn't played a UNLV class like this, EVER...vice versa. So not really uinderstanding your point... and I'm not trying to hijack this thread. Was just responding to Azteccc's comment. Allen and Shepard are defensive beasts. Recruit some pure scorers around them and you have a good all around squad for the future. Who do you think gets Isaac? Way too early to tell IMO. As a UNLV fan I like where we are at in his recruitment and his feelings towards the program, but 3 other solid programs are on his top 5 also. UW especially scares me lately. Williams-Goss, Gordon and Isaac could all possibly tear it up together.

Unfortunately whoever garners Gordon's commitment will probably end up being the next dominant West Coast team. I wish we had a shot at nabbing him.

I liked January and I'm glad that he's not going somewhere like UNLV...He gave us a lot of props during the recruiting process calling SDSU a dream school. He'll be a good player and great get for UTEP. We are already loaded with similar players, so it is a better fit for him over there.

SDSU hasn't played a UNLV class like this, EVER...vice versa. So not really uinderstanding your point... Mmmm the point is that this statement is true evvvery single year, and every year we lay the smack down. For the last, oh, 4 or 5 years or so I've been around incarnations of this board, every summer we get lv-nevada fans coming over touting their recruits and how this year is gonna be crazzzzy! brice massamba is the new shaq! Annnnd every year it doesn't matter. I don't know if your recruits are just always overrated or if the coaching staff can't coach talent well, but whatever it is it seems to be working out great for SDSU. And don't take it the wrong way, I root for lv-nevada to have the usual good ooc run. Makes our wins better and boosts the conference. Hopefully you guys don't stub your toe in march again this year, cuz after the MW tourney I again root for the wehbuls.

Apparently you haven't heard that it's Dave Rice's team now and these are his recruits. Do I hope the Rebels underachieve? Sure, but I wouldn't count on it this year. Rice did a great job recruiting and now it will be up to him and his staff to execute, and I think they will. And it's not like we've blown away the Rebels the last couple times; all the games between us seem to come down to the wire. It should be a great fight this year.

Dave Rice is a worse in game coach than Kruger, instead of having them play too slow which Kruger did they play out of control, way too fast, and jack threes like no other, not to meantion the defense was worse than with Kruger.

Comparing a 3 star non ranked Brice Massamba against 2 McDonalds AA's? So please tell me...what UNLV player was overrated in HS and didn't perform at UNLV? You're taking UNLV trolls too seriously, but like I said... SDSU has NEVER played a UNLV class like this.....as UNLV has NEVER played an SDSU class like the Aztecs have coming in. Not trying to jack the thread, but your post is so confusing I need to follow up on it.

I'm not sure how we can assess his coaching in a single season and with zero of his recruits. I'd say give it a few years. You can't run your style of play if your not using players who fit that style. Luckily for us...the best 2 from last season and fit that style well are back. (Moser and Marshall obviously) He's coached underneath some great coaches. I think he'll be here a LONG time.

congrats on getting Allen. Wish he came to Santa Barbara, though. He would have been the perfect replacement for OJ.

Allen is projected to grow to 6' 7". Anyone know his vertical leap or wing span?
We should start a high school watch to see how the senior year goes.

I've realized in the past that it's useless to beat a dead horse. I like talking college hoops in general without trying to sound too bias. If I were a UNLV fan it would be hard for me to be anything but over the moon about recruiting. SDSU has really stepped up our recruiting but UNLV has soared above that. UNLV and SDSU will both have back to back recruiting classes better than any other classes seen in the MWC history. New Mexico, meanwhile, has had real problems keeping pace. I expected them to continue to be at the top of the MWC with others, but UNLV and SDSU have really separated themselves recruiting-wise. 2012 Recruits (ESPN) Team | Average Rating | Recruits | | | | | SDSU | 23 | #14 SF | #18 SG | #37 PF | | | UNLV | 24.2 | #1 PF | #8 SG | #28 SF | #39 PG | #45 PF | UNM | 87.5 | #50 C | #71 PF | #113 SG | #116 PG
2013 Recruiting (ESPN) Team | Recruits | | | | | | SDSU | #23 SG | | | | | | UNLV | #14 PF | | | | | | UNM | #68PG | #126 PF
New Mexico fans have got to be a little worried, even as arrogant as they are.
