I thought they were supposed to give the first 10000 fans Aztec flags. Went in 1/2 hour before the game and went to 2 or 3 gates and no flags. Looked like they handed them out to the students, which is cool but were the supposed to be just for the students? Was I wrong or was this another typical promotion?

Sounds similar to when they had the Marshall Faulk jersey giveaway a few years ago. Meant to be given to the first 20,000 fans, but once I made it to the gate, there were only small jerseys available. Turns out a significant amount of jerseys were given out to students prior to the game. That made more sense since alot of students were heading to the lines from the parking lot already wearing their Faulk jerseys

Well, marketing and athletics better get their heads out of their asses and figure out who is paying their freight. It ain't the students.
It's getting harder and harder to understand why these supposedly savvy people are so oblivious to what's happening at games that make some people NOT want to return.
SDSU may not control things like concessions, parking, etc. which are both still a big problem at Aztec Football games. But they DO control things like give-aways and marketing. It just seems like the program is run by a lot of people who don't know too much about selling a product, keeping customers happy, or growing their brand.
Too bad. It dooms the Aztecs to perennial also rans.

Not complaining, student section was awesome and if they got the flags great. My problem is that they screw up every promotion they do. It would be better not to do any if you are going to f#%k it up and look bush. We seem to push fans away with both hands.

We are all paying them a considerable amount of money. Do they NOT want our donations? They did not even have enough of the "Free" T-shirts last night. It's not like the students are running the system. These are people employed by the university and being paid a regular salary to run this program. They are doing so poorly.

I was at Aztec Village yesterday and mkt. director Steve Smallschnall was in line for a hoagie at 3:45 pm . When I was was in marketing, I was on point, ensuring that the handouts were being properly and judiciosuly distributed so that the 10,000 were NOT all gone an hour before game time!!!

We didn't get flags either. Someone was walking around the parking lot handing something like that out.
When I went in at 4:10 I didn't even see the boxes. Something tells me they only took them to the gate nearest the trolley, which would be why all the students got em.

They actually came out and handed them out to us while we were tailgating. Kinda nice since we were there since noon and were having a great time in the parking lot!

I was tailgating in F3, right by the Warrior Walk, and didn't seem them handing them out. Got in 30 mins before kickoff and saw no sign of them anywhere. They were also already down to only size small of "fear the spear" shirts.

With other people walking around and selling stuff I just figured she was selling them... hey, maybe they were trying something new.

HOW DARE THEY! I mean, I paid my money fully expecting to come in and watch this football game. AND THAT IS IT. But now I find out that I could have gotten a FREE FLAG?!?! These free handouts are usually great quality too!! I bet none of those students will even put the flags on display! They should just encourage these kids to go out, BE AN ADULT and BUY THEIR OWN FLAGS. Let all the REAL sdsu supporters get them for free.
Shame on you, Aztec marketing.

We entered Gate C at 3:50 and a girl handed the flags to us prior to walking in to the stadium. There were also at least 2 more boxes sitting inside the entrance.
