Matters what role the O'Malleys take in baseball side, the head guy is Fowler (who was a minority owner in the moorad group) so I am a bit skeptical, but some of the early talk from media outlets suggest they will have significant money to spend in the offseason.

It's truly easy for me to remember what a class act the Dodgers were under Peter O'Malley, (from helmet weekend to Danny Goodman's Dodger special for $2.00 to .65 Dodger dogs and on and on). The ownership knew how to market the team which included making sure there was a competitive product on the field. It broke my heart when Mr. O'Malley was forced to sell the team for financial reasons and time for me to move on given the new ownership. In my opinion, if this family is HALF as effective as their elders were in pushing the right buttons, I'm about as optimistic regarding the future of the Padres as I've ever been. But as always, we'll see. What I do believe right now is March is going to be REALLY fun!.... ;D

This is not the O'Malleys who are buying this team. I don't know who they are, but they're not the O'Malleys. It's a bunch of people, none of whose last names are O'Malley or Mickelson. We shall see, but if Ron Fowler is the wealthiest member of any ownership group, there's a problem. He has a LOT less money than Tom Werner had when he got here. ESPNLA: "SAN DIEGO -- The third generation of the O'Malley family took over the sad-sack San Diego Padres on Wednesday, promising to run the club in the same first-class manner that Walter and Peter O'Malley once ran the Dodgers.
The new ownership group includes Peter O'Malley's sons, Kevin and Brian, and nephews Peter and Tom Seidler. It also includes San Diego businessman Ron Fowler, the executive chairman who has been designated as the team's control person.
"This is a special moment for us," Kevin O'Malley said at a news conference to announce the closing of the $800 million deal and introduce the new ownership group. "Our grandfather, Walter O'Malley, our father, Peter O'Malley, for close to 50 years ran a first-class baseball organization. We feel a great responsibility being here today to carry on that legacy. We have high expectations for a first-class product on and off the field and we look forward to working with the team here to make it happen."
Phil Mickelson has said he'll be involved in the group. Peter Seidler said that due to conflicting schedules and the closing of the deal, he hasn't had a chance to sit down with the golfer to finalize his involvement, but hopes to do so in the next few weeks. Seidler said there's one spot left in the ownership group and it's being held for Mickelson."As always, we'll see.

Fowlers the main guy but the O Malleys also have a share.
