I still remember the tOSU fans were in such a state of shock over almost losing to us. They gave the Aztecs a standing ovation as they left the field that day.
Those moral victories are a bit different than Cal Poly upsetting us. In those games one team makes a ton of errors and allows the team not playing as well to win it. Usually that team making the errors in the favored squad. Against, tOSU, Mich and ND we out played them and made the crucial errors.
Against Cal Poly...we stunk up the field all day long.

zuma> in no way, shape, or form am I comparing their QB to Katz. I am only trying to show that those who seem to think we will mop the field with them could be completely wrong. I'm glad the football team doesn't approach these games with the attitude some here seem to be showing. Remember, even when we had bad teams, and some poor coaching we still gave BCS teams like Ohio St., Michigan, and ND a few years ago some very tough games that we almost won. This North Dakota team is not bad, and with a few breaks could give us more than many expect. Don't overlook them is all I'm trying to say. I see nothing in the past about North Dakota's QB that would preclude the possibility that he is as good or better than Katz. All reports I've seen so far on Katz have been less than glowing.

They lost to Cal Poly who we pounded last year. Our football team should have the attitude that we are going to pound these guys. If our team is as afraid of playing North Dakota as some of our fan base is, we are in big trouble.

good lord, Washington is looking past us to LSU and, what, we're looking past losing to Washington so the scaredy cats can worry about losing to the Fighting sioux?

No one on this board knows more about UND than yours truly. Both parents are alums, along with numerous uncles, aunts, cousins and so on. I lived in Grand Forks in the mid 70s while Mom and Dad both earned post graduate degrees. I've followed the school nearly all my life, primarily because of my father. He's also the reason the Twins and Vikings frustrate me to no end on a annual basis. All that being said, the Sioux (soon to be Flickertails IMO) will bring in a hard playing, semi-talented team that will give it their all. And will leave San Diego with a 20+ point beatdown. We should handle them easily. Now if Chuck Long was still here..... (his Kansas team lost to the team down south-NDSU- a mere two seasons ago)

Also, NDSU plays at Colorado State this year I believe. If I was a Rams fan, I'd be concerned. Bison are pretty good.

This story reminds me of our story vs. the major Football programs. ND has lots of moral victories but has had little real success against FBS schools. I hope our football team can get over the hump like our basketball team has been doing and become a true national power.
