csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=582026Don't know how many of you spend time on the BE board, but given the info to work with at the moment, Full Monty has put together a pretty solid/logical prediction as to where the numbers could fall for the TV contract. Also, check out the last couple of pages of the thread where another poster questions the value of a State game versus say a game involving AZ. He has his ducks in a row and takes it deep out of the park! ;D Hat's off to FM for putting together an interesting/intelligent thread.

Fascinating that she used MLS as a model. I seem to recall how when I posted about MLS as a rising league, people laughed at it.
Say it with me now, "BeefEater was right."

So humor me. If we get anywhere near $15 million for broadcasting rights... what does it mean? Where will the money go? How much did we get this year? How much does say, UCLA get? Is this truly a watershed moment for the program as we know it? Be nice, not everyone has time to follow this as closely as you guys do.

It would have been $1.2M, but we forfeit that for leaving the conference. So we will go from $1.4 to ~$14M a 10x increase for just football. The BW will pay peanuts, say $1.0M to SDSU for basketball and then the honey pie is what will FSSD or CH4 or TWS pay for the remainder. Have heard silly numbers. In any event, UCLA gets $20.8M currently without the P12 network. We will not be one of he elite's, but we are no longer trying to eat apple sauce with a fork. We would be about on PAR with the ACC.

I appreciate the insight but the BE tv deal is quickly approaching Norvelle Pelle status. I'm optimistic on the tv deal and trying to be that way with NP. But really, I'm done with the speculation and just ready to see the answers. $#!+'s gettin old.

We know when the answer is coming, this is all speculation until then. Don't read it if it bothers you so much.

Staffing: could fully stock the training room, strength and conditioning; hire back or exceed all the assistants for title ix sports we've cut the past few years Facilities and equipment: minor upgrades to facilities and procuring all needed equipment Not relying only on the other side of campus - the big thing would be drawing zero dollars from the general fund, student fees should remain as we've all paid for facilities and keeping the program afloat, now student fees can go towards accelerating it instead of minimizing the red ink in short: being competitive with staffing, equipment and facilities and not worrying about dire Armageddon scenarios

A lot of BIG #s being thrown around there. I'm still thinking the 6-8 million range for football (but thats me), with 6 being the BARE minimum, and the 8 of the range creeping up. The new hire was a game changer.

With the hires that the Big East has recently made no way we get less than 10 million IMO.... 2 Billion is the STARTING point... that number WILL NOT go down.

Prior to the hires I was in the $6-8 mil range but now I think the min is probably $10 million with a possibility that the BE might beat the ACC tv deal.

The new hire was a game changer. the going in assessment for acceptance was $6M by the AD. That is where my logic and head will stay until they show us the money. The simple fact that they hired two guys in and of itself doesn't change the fundamentals. Still, that they understand the game and are respected by the major players will be a boost to maximizing their negotiations. So, expecting $6M so when a higher number is offered but less than some of the expectations some here are fantasizing about, I won't be disappointed.

No hate on Full Monty but why would I care. He has no inside information, Come on Football! A few points to consider. The nBE brought in people who know how to brand and most members are in large media cities. That's important to the networks. Although we're not part of the big 5 yet, we're the last "big" conference available for bidding. The others are locked in for about a decade. The new commish Aresco, knows our value and knows who the players are. He didn't leave CBS for getting football members only $6 million/year. We're talking a Wall Streeter here, not that country bumpkin running the MWC into the ground.
