I sure hope these projections are accurate. Either way, I will be sad to see us in the Big West. Give it a few months. I'm confident that the nBE will connect the disjointed groups into one, meaning they'll set up a West division. The bidders need to know what they're bidding on today, not what it'll be down the road. I think their need for live West Coast BB will drive it so I can see more Western basketball schools added. They don't have to be football schools.

Too many variables. - Louisville, UConn and Cincy's dedication to staying. - How much time will it take to add western members (if any), and which ones. - Full members, or football only? - Can Boise really afford to ship their non football sports all over the country? - What about inviting East Carolina or even a Xavier/Butler? - At some point a conference will just grow too big.
As much as you want to make the BW a one or two year pit stop, it will take a few years to see how this football-only business works out.
Assuming you can get BYU you could have two seven team football only conferences. West - BSU, BYU, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, SDSU, SMU East- Cincinatti, Navy, Rutgers, Temple, UCONN, UCF, USF
Assuming Navy stays as football only you could have four pods of five teams for Basketball and most other sports. West- BSU, BYU, Houston, SDSU and SMU North Central - DePaul, Marquette, Notre Dame, Louisville and Memphis South Eastern(ish) - Cincinatti, Rutgers, Temple, UCF and USF North East - UCONN, Georgetown, Providence, Seton Hall and St. Johns
You would have home and home (8) games against your pod and 12 games, 4 of 5 teams in each of the other pods with six at home and on the road. 20 conference games, may be too many so 3 of 5 from other pods or something...
I think the travel would be ok and the format would be brilliant for NBC to have games across time zones, etc.
There are a lot of teams moving around so I may have missed one...

FYI there will be two broadcasting contracts (unless seperately negotiated at the same time) tv and online - per new commish. Look for the tv contract to rise in line roughly with CPI and online to grow exponentially through the contract.

I am looking so forward to the new commish getting the Big East brand out there and having a ton of programming options for Big East teams....National attention is on the way! A world-class TV Exec running the conference....what a concept!

Not sure how you negotiate online and tv separately because they are not mutually exclusive decisions; one cannabilizes the other if it's live programming. But having more exposure on a worldwide basis on the web seems the obvious way to go as more of the world gets connected. How about having a Big East tv package similar to the NFL package where every single game in the Big East can be seen by anyone on the planet via the web?

Having a non-insider (i.e. carrer sports administration) commissioner sure did work well for the Pac-12 as that guy came in from Tennis.
With a new 'out of the conventional thinking box' commissioner and consultants that are 'proven' in their abilities there is nothing to hold back a few surprises above and beyond what most agree is an upgrade over the $4MM to $6MM original predictions.
Beyond the tv contract, the online segment holds intrigue plus what other novel approaches are going to be brought to the league under the new commissioner. Exciting times to say the least.
