Frosh LT Paul Rodriguez at 285 lbs, already at the 3 deep. Very impressive. I was worried he'd be another Eric Rouser when he arrived here at 240 lbs. I think Rocky mentioned he was weak as a "kitten", not anymore.
So much quality depth and size at most trench positions. I'm eager to see how Texas stud Dan Kottman makes his mark at DE. Good size on the defensive line but we do lack experience.
Oldie Out

Kinda bummed to see Jacob Driver #3 at middle linebacker. I had high hopes for him. Makes you wonder why the San Diego Defensive POY and 1st team all state linebacker didn't have any offers coming out of LCC. I always thought it was very strange situation.

Man...there is a LOT of youth making up the 2nd & 3rd teams.
This is huge as they will get the exposure this year and then when BE time arrives they are a year older, a year stronger under Coach Hall's oversight, a year more in the systems and ready to go at anyone at anytime.
2012 is going to be another BOWL year and then next year the BE needs to watch out as the Aztecs are going to be a real surprise to the rest of the league outside of Boise.
Really, really, really like the direction of Coach Long's team, his approach to recruiting and the FACT that the BIG $$$$$$$'s are going to be flowing next year.
Watch for recruiting to take a jump for the 2014 class once the Aztecs are on a real, HD network with $'s to allow for a national approach to recruiting. Not saying that it will be a 4* & 5*, but it will could be heavily 3* and above with Coach Long going after the recruits that fit 'his' system and not what we as fans think would look best in Scarlet & Black.
With NATIONAL exposure on TV from the new contract that Commissoner Aresco WILL deliver to the league the Aztecs will be a known/respected quantity just like Coach Fisher's hoops team!
Bye, Bye, Bye Moutain Turd Conference, will NOT miss anything about it or the other members on the gridiron.

No big bodies on the DL. No one to tie up more than 1 O-lineman. I hope we're not vulnerable to the run!

I hope we're not vulnerable to the run! we've been vulnerable to the run I think that is the one risk you take running the 3-3-5 you don't have a bunch of hogs clogging running lanes. Regardless, I am excited for SDSU football's future lots and lots of young guys getting some experience before we head off to the BE

Good to see Whitaker back up there. Really hope he is able to stay healthy. The kid has a real nice skill set for his position.

I'm looking forward to Chad Young paving a lane for the new ball carrier this season. I hope Coach Schmidt will earn his big payraise by the end of the year - getting our new big uglies on the line to gel and pancake everyone in front of them.
Oldie Out

And Vizzi has already passed Nicholas and Hazely. Ruffin and the latter two had a chance to shine last year but none did. Time for them to step it up if they don't want to get lost in the shuffle.
