Yes the O'Fowlerson group appears close to finishing the sale. I still just don't see MLB letting Moores et all wander off with $200 from Fox but who knows. They didn't let the Dodger Darling do that. Do they love Moores more?
I did like the one statement though. “We will field exciting and winning teams. We will reserve further comment until the proper time.” Let's see if they actually mean this.

As long as the new owners have the resources to fund the team properly, who cares what the cash flow details are? If the new owners kept the $200 million and wrote a check for $200 million from other sources would it really be any different?

Sale approved by MLBWhen (if) the Padres win next year, the new owners will get a lot of the credit. The Padres are in great shape at this point. They have no bad contracts and have a bunch of young players mixed with a few quality veterans. They are a couple of pices away from 2013 playoffs and a chance at a ring. The new owners only have to continue the general direction that a re-haul of the minors and some smart trades started.

Phil Mickelson: "We are going to be competitive." LMFAO We are not that far away. Getting the injuried starters back is huge. I expect some off season trade(s) were we give up some of our minor league stock to get MLB ready player(s) that are either blocked themselves, in Headley's situation of blocking a minor league stud, or being paid too much for a team that is cutting payroll. Interesting free agent next year: Mike Adams.
