SDSU received $71.5 million in private giving during the 2011-12 fiscal year, it was announced today. The fiscal year closed on June 30. Support for The Campaign for SDSU, the university’s first university-wide fundraising campaign, is now at more than $330 million toward its goal of $500 million by 2014. Of that, $40 million has gone to support student scholarships. More than 38,000 donors have contributed to the campaign. newscenter.sdsu.edu/sdsu_newscenter/news.aspx?s=73740Good job everyone. ... I'm assuming you've all given, right?

Eye popping numbers. That's just with basketball leading the way too. If we could ever get football going you'd really see something. A lot of people scoff at the importance of college athletics to the academic side but you can't underestimate the power of sports in keeping alums connected to their school and bringing in those yearly donations.
