Actually, (assume this is accurate, who knows), the way it reads, it could mean 10M for all sports schools 4M for bball only on 6/7M for footbal only

Again, who are these sources and how far into the loop are they?

If the main deal is with NBC corporate, it can be very good for football. It would also be nice for the BE to do a few thursday night games with ESPN later on in the season. I am also interested to see how much ends up on the Big East channel and if Cox/Time Warner/AT&T here in San Diego will carry the channel. Hopefully, we can avoid another fiasco (especially after what is going to probably happen with this season's FB telecasts).
I'm not going to mark down a ton of BE games on the main NBC over the air property though. They really want quality programming on their new cable sports channel. Also, I think Notre Dame is going to want to protect their broadcast window as much as possible just like the SEC did with CBS. It would nice though, to see NBC commit to having a college football game broadcast on the main network every Saturday, which would mean that the Big East could get mabye 6 to 8 games on NBC per season. That would be huge.

If Wieberg is hired to be commish, don't be surprised to see a partitioned deal with various networks, a la the PAC 12.

That would be huge. As I understand it, part of NBC's thinking is that having a BE game preceding the ND broadcast would get Irish fans to think of the BE in football terms even though ND doesn't participate in that sport as a BE member. At least in theory so doing would lead some Golden Domers to then watch other BE football on NBCSN as they would be reminded will be broadcast on that tier 2 network. On the other side of the coin, the lead-in game would encourage BE fans to remain around for the Irish. (It's highly doubtful that will happen with most of us in the West, of course.)

IMO. NBC is going to have to get approval from Notre Dame before they do anything to alter their broadcast window.
I don't think Notre Dame wants "no competition" like the SEC did with CBS/MWC, I just think that they want NBC to guarantee them that some lousy Big East game that happens to last 3.5 hours isn't going to cut into their time. That's a big issue since most ND home games have a typical start time of 2:30/3:30 EST
I doubt NBC is going to want to use the flagship for Big East Saturday night primetime following ND either. Fox , ABC, CBS, and ESPN already have the best games in that slot so I don’t see an NBC network executive high on that idea, when they could probably dominate ratings amongst the 40% of America that doesn’t watch college football by giving local affiliates the uncontested local news slot followed by some reality talent show or Law&Order reruns.
I have no doubt that there is going to be a “Big East Game of the Week”. I just think that a majority of the time, it’s going to be on NBC Sports. I also think that a few games might end up on NBC national, as long as Notre Dame is okay with it.
