espn.go.com/blog/bigeastIf you scroll down to a few Big East notes, it mentions how BE is handling all the $$$ from those schools leaving and joining. Also mentions that the BE has contacted the BW in regard to BSU.

maybe something like this - a four year series, two home and home?
UC Santa Barbara/Marquette or Villanova Long Beach State/Louisville or Georgetown Cal State Fullerton/Providence Hawaii/Cincinnati Cal Poly/Houston UC Riverside/Seton Hall (because one beautiful location deserves another) UC Davis/Depaul Cal State Northridge/SMU UC Irvine/UCF
What do ya think?

Had never thought of BE/BW matchups other than ours. Wonder how the long time BE schools would look upon having to play a BW team, would that be beneath them? Would games be able to offset additional travel costs the BW teams incur if BSU is added to the BW?

Ahhh....the BW feels slighted because the four-team deal with SDSU and BSU may not include the rest of the conference. Pretty interesting....So now we're talking BEast vs BWest in basketball?

Only if their draw is Riverside or Northridge. Everyone else will be acceptable. as for the BE/BW scheduling, I figure it will be extended to all members as a "thank you" for the troubles of taking Boise - IF we do, of course. So my matchups are those that I think would be realistic ones.

Would games be able to offset additional travel costs the BW teams incur if BSU is added to the BW? Boise/the BE will have to pay but promising home games out west should reduce the amount owed - maybe to the equivalent of a couple Woodstock's pizzas. At the very least, these home games will probably convince Long Beach and Hawaii to say yes to Boise since they will be benefiting too. Remember that Hawaii will not be asked to pay travel costs to any future conference member.

Only if their draw is Riverside or Northridge. Everyone else will be acceptable. Really? Neither of those schools finished last in the Big Lots Conference last season. Davis did. And IIRC, Cal Poly wasn't exactly a whole lot better than those three. So I'd be surprised if BE schools would be exactly chomping at the bit to play any of those four. They'd rather just give the BLC another half a mil on top of what Boise will provide.

We’re not at the point where we’ve agreed to anything, or that they’ve even told us what they would like, but they have indicated there might be some room for discussion there."

Santa Barbara? Right on the beach. If we can host UNLV and North Carolina ooc then we can draw any BE (I mean, New C-USA) team. Location helps. as for San Luis Obispo? well, they did hold USC to under 40 points last year.

I'm guessing a couple of east coast games, maybe - but no way will they offer a series of home-and-homes. Kinda like when we played ND in football

They should not feel slighted. The BW is a small time league. There is not a whole lot of incentive for BE teams to fly out here to play teams in a crappy league. SDSU has earned the right to play with the Big Boys, even if our football was not moving to the BE. However, I would not be surprised to see BE teams travel out here to play SDSU and Boise and decide to get a few extra wins against BW teams to up their win total. UCSB and LBSU are the only teams that would fit that scenario, though. More likely, BE teams would rather play SDSU and then PAC 10 teams to up their RPI.

Looks like a win/win. Or maybe a win to lose. All teams need pre conference games. Most pay big bucks for a team to come in....and lose most of the time.
However, this may open revenue games to the rest of the BW. Make no mistake, all Calif schools have a funding gap this year and the near future. And it is good for recruiting.
Oh, and they will NOT be home and home. This is about $$$$.

They should not feel slighted. The BW is a small time league. the BW also had more draft picks this year than the MWC. However, I would not be surprised to see BE teams travel out here to play SDSU and Boise. UCSB hosted North Carolina in '09 and they are at LBSU this year. Talk to me when a top Big East team visits Viejas. However, I would not be surprised to see BE teams decide to get a few extra wins against BW teams to up their win total. That worked out well for a preseason top 10 Pitt featuring Ashton Gibbs, didn't it? Long Beach won by double figures.
