The greatest quote ever priduced in college footbal came from a UDUB alumni. When Hugh McElhenny was asked what was the biggest change from UW to the 49ers,he replied,"The cut in pay" LOL. McElhenny was one of my dad's favorites along with Joe "The Jet" Perry and one other stud who played in the backfield with Y.A. Tittle. (I was barely alive at the time so never saw them but Dad talked a lot about those guys.) I remember them all and John Perry the son of the Jet was on our freshman team at ASU. John Henry Johnson, YA Tittle,Button Hook Billy Wilson,Bob "the Geek" Saint Claire what an offense. The whole starting backfield ended up in the Hall of fame. Now if only they could have played defense.

So you are popping off about Div. II championships? Wow, I might as well pop off about the Seattle Storm and Seattle Sounders now too then. I mean Seattle does have a Stanley Cup Title and NBA Title. San Diego has -0 Super Bowl Wins/NFL Titles -0 NBA Titles -0 MLB Titles -0 Stanley Cup Titles -0 Recognized Div. 1 College Football/College Basketball National Titles Basically you are the worst major sports city in the United States. No titles in ANY major sport. End of story. Seattle Mariners, hasnt even been to the world series Seattle Seahawks, another embarassment, never been to the superbowl. Inaccurate (see the 05 Superbowl) AND bad grammar... As for that "rosebowl" guy - The Padres have been to two world series - Have your grand kids call me after the Mariners get to their first one. The Chargers were winning AFL titles when Seattle's main sport was: (and I am not making this up) Hydroplane "racing". You bust up my guy for talking about SDSU's titles in the 40's and 50's AND THEN you bring up the 1918 Seattle Metropolitans? Lame

Give me a break Ellbee. Those two pictures of Dennis Conner and the America's Cup trophy are fakes. Everybody knows the real America's Cup trophy has Maureen O'Conner attached to it. ;D

Hell, man, do you ever do research before posting nonsense? Among other things, SDSU has won numerous football championships over the years (there is more than just Division I, you know). As well, the Aztecs have won a national championship in basketball and another in baseball. (The former in 1941 and the latter in 1958). Also a NC in men's volleyball. Also impressive (to anyone who has a clue and a pulse) is the long list of great Aztec athletes who have gone on to play professional sports with distinction or to achieve fame in other fields. Even people in Seattle may possibly have heard of Tony Gwynn, Marshall Faulk, Fred Dryer, Graig Nettles, Brian Sipe, Art Linkletter, Bud Black, Eric Wynalda, Joe Gibbs, Carl Weathers, Marcelo Balboa, Michael Cage, Mark Grace, Doug Harvey, Kawhi Leonard, Kirk Morrison, and Steven Strasburg. And that's only a partial list. Not too bad for a sleepy little town where nothing ever happens. AzWm So you are popping off about Div. II championships? I am an enthusiastic supporter of San Diego State University, and therefore focused entirely on what the Aztecs have done. I agree that in terms of pro sports, San Diego has not done much. My reaction to that fact is simple: Who cares? I, personally, am not much of a pro sports fan. AzWm

If you don't like the responses I'm sure there's an ASU board you can hang out on. Nice to see you showing your colors though...

So other cities have had richer owners to buy better players than our city has. Big deal.....pro sports involving imported players says nothing about the city's inhabitants. Lets talk top athletes originating from our region, vs top athletes originating from yours. I bet you lose.

I was saying to stop responding to this UDub guy. William wrote something that was not helping the case for San Diego sports. Stop interpreting everything I say as a knock on SDSU. For fcuk's sake man.

Herp derp 1917 Seattle Metrosexuals herp derp If you're shiddy 100-year old hockey trophy counts, so does our 50-year old AFL title in a sport that actually matters. A couple other thoughts... 1. Boasting of one, lone natty - in your case, an NBA trophy - from 34 years ago is a sad and irrelevant effort usually reserved for Raider fans and Rubles. 2. Chargers > Shehawks. You were the AFC West's perennial pet bitch until we sold you off to the NFC West for a pack of cigarettes. 3. Padres > Expos South. Try trolling again when you've had at least one at bat in a World Series. I will concede one thing to you though - you're a shoe-in for the Troll Douchebaggery of the Internets Award. I guess you have that one over us.

I've seen the two (DC and the old bent mug) in the same room down at SDYC with my own two eyes... (although Mayor Mo and DC do appear to have a strong physical resemblance. Hmmmm, separated at birth?)

Ok, State got crushed that last time they played up there and the sports teams down here haven't won a title yet. So now you must mock our city too? I know the Supersonics have a ring, will you cheer for OKC when they win another? Why would lower yourself to even post on a board they cheers for such inferior talent is beyond me. We have something in common, States last football conference champion was in 98 and UDub was 2000. It's been a while seen both teams have done jack in the own conference. I'd worry about your cross-state cousins getting over on you in the Apple Cup.

What's really crazy about this thread is I didn't realize UDub had enough "Great Moments" in football to fill 3 minutes of video.....you learn something everyday.

Actually Bill, SDSU did tie BYU in the Pacific div of the WAC in 98. However, they didn't play in the conference title game. AFA won the conference title in 98. They beat BYU 20-13 in title game. You would have to switch the 9&8 and turn the 9 upside down to get the Aztecs last conference title in football. A little on the sad side wouldn't you think?

Conference Champs Aztecs 18 > 15 UW Come to think of it...how bout this. The number of players drafted in the NFL over the past decade. SDSU 18 > 15 UW
