Thanks to Rolf for designing my thread title...
NBC and bobo costsus can't be worse. The nbc virus caught on to other broadcasts. An example is pre-season NFL football. The only reason to watch pre-season is to see your brother, father, nephew, friend, or someone from your college attempt to make an NFL squad. So what do the TV scums do? The announcers put themselves on camera, talk about themselves, talk about the over-hyped, marquee player and not show any of the second, third, fourth and fifth string players on the field. They ignore them. So what most people tune into to watch, they don't show.
Same for the Olympics. You'll have someone you know competing for about tenth place, but the TV ignores them.
Yes, and we don't forget that NBC super-hyped, that steroid track runner women who stood up on the podium, knowing full well she was juiced up and accepted her gold. Cheater.
I guess, to make a full claim to the olympics, NBC could just assume all of Greece's debt and take possession of Greece. Then, boobee costsus could brag that he and NBC started the olympics.
Oh, one more point. This is a good one. Remember back when the olympics were for amateurs only? Remember that the socialist and communist countries brought in pro athletes? The US started losing to the USSR all the time and people in our government decided enough was enough. BUT instead of maintaining the true amateur status and do THE RIGHT THING, your government decided the US would start cheating too, and started bringing in pro athletes.
The solution, and I would have taken this route, would have been to pull the men's basketball team from the olympics entirely. And, then for every sport that we saw the other countries cheating and using banned substances, pull our teams from those events as well. Soon, the US would not be in the olympics and would have gone to a separate olympics but strictly with amateur athletes. I'll bet this would have worked and kept the olympics amateur, and it would have kept nbc from "owning" it, ta-boot.
If the bcs goes fully to four conferences only, the rest should ban for a TV network, announcers, and playoffs. The AFL did this to the NFL and they survived and prospered.
There is nothing better than healthy competition to provide quality goods and services, and job security.
