Pretty Classic. Down to the last strike. Dodger fans on their feet. First he falls asleep on the mound, then throws high, then fails to cover home.
Dodgers suck padres Brown.

IMO the replay was ruined because Enberg focused more on the ump than the actual content of the play.
Yes the ump made a mistake that was quickly rectified. Move on and talk about the fact that we just fuckin stole home in the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs.

I agree. I tried to find a dodgers broadcast of it to no avail. I'd love to hear Teddy and/or Vin Scully's call of the play.

The link you posted has Vin Scully's call of the play immediately following the Padres call. It's not much better, IMO. He didn't get caught up in the play but also didn't go into much detail.

I have not watched an entire Padre game all year, however, saw the replays and loved it....We have nothing to play for so why not be daring....Great play!!!!

I like Dick Enberg but going on and on about the empire was not only ill advised but also wrong. An empire on that type of play doesn't look to see if the ball is caught. That can be determined later. If he did look to see if the ball was caught or whether it was sailing toward the backstop, he would have missed the tag. The empire should ignore the catch and concentrate on the slide and tag. Whether the catcher has the ball or not can easily be determined after the play is over. The empire did the exact right thing. I wish Dick did.

WHY DID YOU CONSISTENTLY USE THE WORD EMPIRE INSTEAD OF UMPIRE?

WHY DID YOU CONSISTENTLY USE THE WORD EMPIRE INSTEAD OF UMPIRE? The umpire strikes back.
It is the word my fingers chose

I agree. I tried to find a dodgers broadcast of it to no avail. I'd love to hear Teddy and/or Vin Scully's call of the play. Vin's call was mediocre, he seemed stunned and surprised by the audacity of Cabarera's steal of home. Even the Hall of Famers have awkward sounding calls.
