Don't trade Quentin, the younger guys need to see how this guy handles Petco. Peter Gammons says this team is built to win in 2014, stay the course.

He has handled Petco Park so far by turning right and not left. He has a very high fly ball percentage and a low line drive percentage. He is not a player who will hit well in Petco Park.

To me the question of whether to trade some of the more established talent for prospects comes down to asking one's self if the Padres are going to win a world series with XXXX on the roster.
I honestly don't see that happening with Huston Street or Q (i.e. in the next few years), so they are 100% expendable. Padres fans might be happier to see Street or Quentin stay, but if trading them moves you closer to a WS then that's the move to make (in a vacuum where revenue, morale, fan satisfaction is not considered). The Pads aren't one or two pieces from WS contention, so the valuable assets that don't figure into those plans are expendable.

TRADE EVERYBODY. Headley, Quentin, Street. None of these guys are going to be around when the Padres are any good anyway.

I'm not saying we can't float around .500 IF none of our young players turn out to be busts (big if).. but we are a 2014 team best case scenario.

Quentin needs to stay to provide the slugger presence. Too many factors contributed to the Padres landing in last place for quite awhile, but once Quentin got off the DL, the effect of his presence was made. Best thing about him is he provides home run power without a lot of strikeouts. Without him, it's doubtful the Padres get out of the NL West basement. With the likes of Quentin, Amarista, Cabrera, and Grandal added to the roster (and the elimination of Hudson and Bartlett), San Diego has a very realistic chance of finishing the season in third place

Record after 90 games 2009 36-542010 53-37 - Best record in the NL. 2012 36-54Do you really need this explained to you.
