Lately, both of them, especially Amarista, have been on fire hitting-wise. Both homered again today against the D-Backs (Amarista with his fifth HR and Grandal with his 3rd) and Amarista is a triple away from the cycle

They're finally bringing up the young guys. If we're going to be bad, let's at least find out what we have in the minors.

Grandal's homers have been great but the dugout scene afterwards on Sunday was the best: Hashtag: RookieHazingisAwesome

It was so depressing watching Hudson and Bartlett flail away at the start of the season. Let's see what Amarista, Cabrera, Forsythe etc can do. Hell, the way they are going right now they look to be wrecking our draft position for next year!

Grandal showing no signs of cooling off. He just hit a 2-run pinch-hit HR to give the Padres a 6-4 lead in the top of the 8th inning. A possible first sweep ever of the D-Backs in Phoenix is almost complete

I had to chuckle when I read this comment on the ESPN message board for the Padres/D-Backs game:

About time Grandal was called up. I like his swing, real fluid. Glad he's up with the Pads now.

I'm not convinced Amarista will be a productive major leaguer, but at least he is playing well for the time being.

Your skepticism is well warranted. 680 AB "AAA" .297 .331 .424 .754 Padres 97 AB .289 .317 .515 .832 In 680 "AAA" ABs in a hitters league at elevation (Salt Lake City) he only had a .424 SLG Percentage and less than a home run every 100 AB. Players have produced at a higher level in the majors but it doesn't happen very often. On the other hand, he is only 23 and 2 months. Like I said above SSS.

I had to chuckle when I read this comment on the ESPN message board for the Padres/D-Backs game: Epic. Might not be far from the truth, either. Anyway, so far Grandal looks awesome. The little guy has been lucky. He's not a big-league regular (though he's just exactly the kind of player Padres fans love[/i]).[/quote] I don't think anyone is projecting him as a regular, but with his speed and ability to play a decent 2b and ss he definitely fills a need that most teams need. A utility player that can steal bases and provide a spark we haven'y had for a while.
