I am driving to Big Bear on Friday night and plan to stop by Lake Elsinore to see the Storm play. I am hoping that Liriano and Spangenberg haven't been promoted. I noticed that Burch Smith was to pitch. I didn't know much about him. Burch Smith He was selected by the Padres in the 14th round in 2011 Draft from U of Oklahoma. He is from Tyler, TX. I wonder if he was an Earl Cambell fan. This year he has a 3.95 ERA. That is pretty good for the Cal league. He just turned 22 in April which is a year younger than league average. His 72 Ks in 68.1 innings is impressive. His 12/72 walk/K ratio is impressive too. He is 4th in the Cal league in WHIP at 1.05. I am looking forward to the game.

Enjoy. The Diamond is a great little park and The Storm do a good job of showing you how happy they are that you are there. There are pretty good promotions midweek too. $1 beer nights and all-you-can-eat nights.

Thanks. We have a condo up there and spend a good deal of time there, even in the summer.
Looking at the box score of Lake Elsinore's 14-1 win last night, I noticed that 2B was a newly promoted player instead of Cory Spandenburg. I really wanted to see him play. I hope he hasn't been promoted. Rymer Liriano did play. That makes me happy.

A few shots from our "Road Trip"... Me and AztecBill The Ballpark One of the reasons we went... to see Liriano play. The pitcher, Burch Smith had a good night too... took a perfect game into the 6th inning. And we came home with a win! Mascot "Thunder" was his usual entertaining self.

A few shots from our "Road Trip"... Me and AztecBill Anyone trying to figure out the letters on my shirt? It is SDSU of course. The Storm hat goes real well with SDSU gear. I wore a storm hat and SDSU gear to one of the Aztec games at the MWC tournament last year in Vegas. Many thought it was cool Aztec gear.

We missed seeing Cory Spangenburg because he is on the 7-day DL. We need a second trip.

We saw Burch Smith pitch that night and were impressed. I looked up his stats since our visit.
Last night he went 5 scoreless innings giving up 3 hits and 0 walks with 10 Ks.
4-0 Record in 7 starts. 1.75 ERA 36 Innings 47 Ks (1.3 Ks/Inning) 1.06 WHIP 30 Hits 8 Walks .231 BAA
That is great for the Cal League, which is very hitter friendly.
Overall he leads the Cal League in Ks (119 in 104 I) and WHIP (1.05). He is a full year younger (22.2) than average age (23.0) of pitchers in the Cal League.

That is great for the Cal League. That is a huge pitchers league. ... I believe you misspelled "hitter's" ...
