Saw this in the U-T business section the other day, but forgot to post the link until now. It's a pretty decent primer on what not to write unless you are dying to get sued: tinyurl.com/2ce9znoAnd keep in mind that two of us got sued by Bartel not for something we wrote, but something we "republished". If some idiot offers a post that you think could be libelous, do NOT quote it if you decide to respond. In short, think before you respond. Ask yourself if the idiot's post could be something that could get him sued, because if it is, it's also something that could get you sued. =Bob

It makes me wonder if Schemmel could sue me for posting my last letter to him on the old aztectalk board in 2005. If I remember right, it was a very non flattering letter that put his lineage and intelligence in serious question. This firing of coaches has been my major gripe about SDSU. The Athletic directors deserve all of the blame for the total destruction of a once proud football program.

For that matter, almost anyone can sue others for almost any reason. Whether such lawsuits, many of which are downright frivolous, succeed is another matter. However, even if the plaintiff is kicked out of court, the whole thing can be a real pain for the defendant. I think that's what Bob has been saying for some time. AzWm

I believe defamation suits in California have a one year statute of limitations. www.ehow.com/about_6612635_statute-limitations-defamation-character.html
