No doubt Pres. Obama tried to help the U.S. auto industry. (Well, the UAW affiliated part, anyway.) But, clearly, his claims of success in that effort are not accurate. Here are the facts.

Here's something else. GM is not going to be saved by the Volt. The company is nowhere near ready to offer a lineup of vehicles that will meet the tough new MPG standards. To do so will require billions in development costs that GM does not have. Where do you suppose that money will come from?
