Adolf Hitler may have had Jewish and African roots, DNA tests have shown
Saliva samples taken from 39 relatives of the Nazi leader show he may have had biological links to the “subhuman” races that he tried to exterminate during the Holocaust.
Jean-Paul Mulders, a Belgian journalist, and Marc Vermeeren, a historian, tracked down the Fuhrer’s relatives, including an Austrian farmer who was his cousin, earlier this year.
A chromosome called Haplogroup E1b1b1 which showed up in their samples is rare in Western Europe and is most commonly found in the Berbers of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, as well as among Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews.
"One can from this postulate that Hitler was related to people whom he despised," Mr Mulders wrote in the Belgian magazine, Knack.
Haplogroup E1b1b1, which accounts for approximately 18 to 20 per cent of Ashkenazi and 8.6 per cent to 30 per cent of Sephardic Y-chromosomes, appears to be one of the major founding lineages of the Jewish population.
Knack, which published the findings, says the DNA was tested under stringent laboratory conditions.
"This is a surprising result," said Ronny Decorte, a genetic specialist at the Catholic University of Leuven.
"The affair is fascinating if one compares it with the conception of the world of the Nazis, in which race and blood was central.
“Hitler's concern over his descent was not unjustified. He was apparently not "pure" or ‘Ayran’.”
It is not the first time that historians have suggested Hitler had Jewish ancestry.
His father, Alois, is thought to have been the illegitimate offspring of a maid called Maria Schickelgruber and a 19-year-old Jewish man called Frankenberger.

Well, for those interested in where they came from, there is the National Geographic genographic project: tinyurl.com/48eulzWouldn't do me much good given that my genealogy research has thus far shown all my ancestors to be from Northern Europe, mostly England, Scotland, Ireland with some German (Pennsylvania Dutch) and one Swiss line. But I have a friend with red hair, relatively pale skin and blue eyes, born in Bermuda who had her mitochondrial DNA tested through this program and that came back showing the DNA ending in West Africa. She already knew that her ancestors 4 generation and back on her mother's side were black, but she wanted to see where that would lead. My wife's might be interesting since her grandfather was descended from Spanish Jews and it would be interesting to see where that leads to. =Bob |

My late mother knew a woman, an immigrant, who claimed that she had knowledge indicating that Hitler was part Jewish. Had something to do with where Hitler lived in Austria. (I'll bet that a solid majority of Americans do not know that Hitler was Austrian.)
I have absolutely no way of verifying that, of course. This claim could be total nonsense.
What is indisputable is that Hitler was one of histories two or three worst human beings.

I have to admit to my shame that when I am driving the Central Valley of California, I occasionally listen to the talking head shows as there are a lot of right wing radio stations out of the cities of the Central Valley. You have a choice between twangy country western music or hate filled talking head shows. Too much twang annoys me, so I listen to the hate filled rants of the ultral right talking heads, knowing that most of them are doing it just becase it is a shtick. (Yiddish for "the thing you do to support yourself.") Hitler was a talking head. That was his SHTICK. To our knowledge he never gassed a jew or killed the gypsies. He had flunkies who took him seriously who did his bidding. The fact that he spoke up for it makes him just as guilty. Sort of like Charles Manson being judged guilty for the Tate murder. He wasn't even there, but he ordered it. The German culture was totally fugged up when it came to jumping to the voice of authority. Heaven help us if Americans start to jump to the voice of authority. The fact that we have so much dissent is one of our greatest strengths as a people. God Bless America. |

Hell, I took "early retirement" at age 56 and get around 34K a year. Pooh retired at age 38 and most likely got not that much less. Aside from the fact that you get to retire after 20 years with medical benefits, you also get to retire when you are still quite young and get to double dip by going into other government jobs.
