Not much can be said about the poor on and off field showing by the Pads so far this year. However, one thing Byrnes got right was not signing Heath Bell to a multi-zillion dollar contract. So far Bell is 0-2 with 2 blown saves (albeit last night's loss was also aided by Padre-like fielding in left.) Houston Street looks like a relative bargain and should always be rested for his infrequent need to pitch. Now if management would only spend a bit of the cost savings on some bats or middle infield help. (I can't believe I just said that! )

Bartlett isn't even a Major League talent. He should be cut today, and bring up anybody who is next in line from the minors. If managements strategy is to field a sub-par, losing product, (and it is), then play prospects. I would rather watch some 24 year old boot grounders, than watch a washed up never was-has been like Bartlett.

Would the Pads take a double hit and get rid of Hudson too?
