No news.
Baseball is dragging their feet on approval and the TV contract can't be signed until it is resolved. It had to be signed now so the Padres resolved it the only way they could right now. I expect them to come back for approval of the sale right after the TV deal is approved and signed. It is like driving to the store but waiting for a pedestrian to cross the street first.

So what now? Moores doesn't want to spend money on payroll. Moorad is on the way out (or so it would seem). Does Moores sell his 51% to someone else now?
What a cluster....
This franchise is a disaster. How can the league let the team operate like this? Either take it over like the Dodgers or get someone in here who can do the job right. This situation is completely unworkable long term.
And this is why I hate MLB.

Ah, the installment payment plan owner has issues huh.
Commissioner Bud Selig refused to permit the vote to be taken, saying that Moorad had failed to include financial information necessary to MLB owners

Sounds like good news for the Padres fans. It seems the McCourt scandal has caused MLB to rethink their philosophy of allowing owners to buy a team without having enough cash to run the team.

It my have been true but Moores saw a chance to nix the deal and get more than the original sale price by using this to freeze out Moorad. That would explain why Moores joined the forces aligned to keep Moorad out. But it may just be that Moorad wasn't what he portended to be. Hard to tell from the info we have. It could also be that Moorad is a little peeved at the process and a re-sale will net millions to his group so he just took that option to get out of the mess that this is becoming. Or Moores and Moorad may be working together to feign compliance for a (divorce) court ordered good faith effort to sell the franchise while still waiting for a better price. Often what seems like one thing to outsiders is really totally different when all the facts are known.

So "out completely" is a bit of an over statement. I think this all comes down to Moores wanting his half of that extra $100M the Padres are worth now.
