www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/jan/19/stauffer-enjoys-salad-days-after-long-road-back/The coolest part of an otherwise pathetic season for hte Padres last year was watching Stauffer emerge as a legitimate major league pitcher. He's the longest tenured Padre by a long shot and I'm so happy for him that he's established himself as a regular. He's had such a long road to get here and to see it finally pay off has been so cool.

I like re-signing Stauffer, but they should have signed him to a 2 year deal. This year is likely going to see at least 85 losses, so they won't really need a solid pitcher like him until 2013 at the earliest.
The organization needs to make some more long term commitments to winning. Like I said, I like that the re-signed him, but I hate the fact that it's just a one year deal.

The signing was an arbitration agreement which has to be a 1 year deal. I assume they'll work out al onger term deal during the season.

This will be Stauffer's 5th year. So the Padres control him next year too. They need to work a long term (4 year) contract now.

That would certainly be a sign that they are trying to put together (and keep) a legitimate Major League roster for a change...

Hes got good Stauff. I would like to see them sign Maybin to a long termer just to give us fans a sense of commitment.

I like the Stauffer signing as well now get Maybin and Hudley signed to long term deals! Headley too. Maybin is under club control until 2016, so it's not a pressing issue. But it was reported that the Padres have had some talks with his agent about a long term deal.
