sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/writers/seth_davis/01/16/hoop.thoughts/1.html"I promised last week that I would rank San Diego State if they beat UNLV, and as you can see I stayed true to my word. But I still think I was right to wait. Before their game against the Rebels, the Aztecs' best win was by one point at home over Cal. And please spare me the angry tweets about leaving your team ranked behind UNLV. I think it's safe to say if you beat a team on a buzzer beater on your own home court, that team is better than yours. Still, Steve Fisher has done remarkable work replacing his top four scorers from last year's Sweet 16 team. Aztecs fans have every reason to be bursting with pride."

Then I guess USC should be ranked higher than us too.

He has an opinion that isn't completely unreasonable. If you believe that Cal is better than Zona, then you'd have to agree.
As always, winning solves everything.

LOL Seth Davis what a d-BAG. "I think it's safe to say if you beat a team on a buzzer beater on your own home court, that team is better than yours." So whats there to say about a team that basically played 5 players that were all undersized, were in control of the ENTIRE game from start to finish, against a team that has one of our former coaches and over a week to prepare for us??? LOL like i said, D-BAG.

wait, how often did UNLV have a lead in the game? ... Shouldn't that have something to do with who is better as well?
we didnt win off a buzzer beater, we won because we had the last shot when the game was close, and it just so happend to get close near the end. State lead nearly the whole game.

Haters will hate. He has a tendency to kiss pac12 butt when he is on Fusky Flagship radio KJR-950. I have a feeling he's just another traditionalist & loves the east coast & old power teams of the past!

So then tell me why he has Murray State ranked #14??? There best win is against who, Memphis? His reasoning for keeping us out makes no sense at all!!!

This year's team has far exceeded the expectations of almost everybody but it doesn't change the fact that we are still paper thin at some key positions and in order to continue our success, the guys must continue to play too many minutes with very few mistakes. I don't think it's unreasonable for knowledgeable observers to take that into account when ranking us. Here's to continued success and confounding the critics! Go Aztecs!

I have a feeling he's just another traditionalist & loves the east coast & old power teams of the past! Interesting point. I was talking life/philosophy/politics with a friend of mine, not long ago, who happened to grow up in the south. We came to a point of conflict in regards to what were described by him as "inherent moral standards", some of which I found very stifling and absurd. He'd talk about there being certain fundamentals to being born in the south, certain inherent qualities and perspectives one must always reference if to ever move upwards in the scheme of things. And, as aware as he was that not allowing room for any progressive thought may hinder him/others, there was no way he would ever do so because it would be going against the power structure that has always been a part of living in the south. These aspects of himself that could not be persuaded, or altered unless dictated by those in power, would not budge due to the pledge made when he was "born" in the south. I was always very fascinated by that.

Either you're changing or I'm changing since I sure seem to be agreeing with you a lot these days. I actually hope we don't rise too rapidly in the polls. Seems to me that part of this team's success has been the limited expectations placed on it so our guys are playing pretty loosey goosey. (Yeah, I know that sounds dumb but it's the best I could come up with without any coffee this a.m.) Everybody's expecting us to lose at The Pit too so I think that's great, frankly.

The next time the Aztecs lose Davis will be telling us how weak they are as a team and drop them off his list.
