NEW ORLEANS (01/07/12) - Former Chargers quarterback Drew Brees threw for 466 yards and three touchdowns in the New Orleans Saints' NFC Wildcard win over the Detroit Lions. His passing yardage was enough to break the Wildcard record and finish second to Bernie Kosar (289) in single-game playoff history. Saints halfback Darren Sproles (who played for the Chargers from 2005 until last season) chipped in with two touchdowns and 85 total yards. The Saints will travel to San Francisco next Saturday to take on the 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round.
Mission Bay product leads Texans to their 1st ever playoff win
HOUSTON (01/07/12) - Former Mission Bay High School star Arian Foster joins Packers HB Ryan Grant and Chargers legend Paul Lowe as the only undrafted running backs in NFL history to rush for at least 100 yards in a playoff game. Foster had a monster performance rushing for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 24 carries to help lead the Houston Texans to their 1st playoff win in franchise history. His biggest play was a 42-yard tight-rope down the sideline touchdown late in the 4th quarter that pretty much sealed the victory for Houston. The 31-10 wildcard win over the Cincinnati Bengals will be rewarded with a trip to MT Bank Stadium to take on the Baltimore Ravens in next Sunday's AFC Divisional Round.
