I won't be reupping my tix unless they draft a certain SDSU running back. That would be awesome, but I doubt it. The Chargers have plenty of issues to address, but are in pretty good hands at RB with Mathews and Tolbert. But I'll tell you what, Hillman could help ANY team, particularly as a 3rd down back.

Very disappointed. The Chargers have become exactly as mediocre as I and Fear the Show had warned, seeing what Norbert had done to the Redskins. We've delayed the inevitable decision another year... ugh. Right.......because the Redskins have just won so many championships and been such a league powerhouse since Norv was canned by Snyder........ At some point you have to stop blaming Norv and take a look at the rest of the organization--including and especially the owner--and see that they might just have bigger problems than just the head coach. I mean, Shanahan was a pretty big time hire. How's he done the last two years? Yeah, Snyder has been a disaster in Washington. He needs to stay out of the way....though, he got wise when he hired Allen as GM. He has a good background, and has started off on the right foot drafting studs on D such as Orapko and Kerrigan. The Skins need to find a QB, because Rex and Beck both suck.

I'm hoping the outcry over them losing Sproles will lead them to use a 3rd on him if he's still there.

I want a winning coach. Turner doesn't. Think "Major League"

Norv isn't a bad head coach, he just isn't a good one. He is a bad game manager, cannot instill discipline in his teams to save his life, and he cannot motivate. He will NEVER get the most out of his teams on a consistent basis. His teams will ALWAYS lose a couple ugly games to bad teams every year. And he will NEVER win a Super Bowl as a head coach. Never.
But he's a good offensive coordinator.
As for A.J. look at his last 4 or 5 drafts. A bunch of crap with the occasional decent player mixed in. No big time impact players. No game changers. A.J. without Buddy Nix is a below average talent evaluator. And his handling of free agents? ABYSMAL. For years he refused to sign any name free agent that could command a decent salary. When he finally signs a big name it's a fragile player who can't stay healthy to save his life.
What a joke they both are. Yeah, there are worse head coaches and GM's, but those coaches and GM's get fired after a two or three years.
Dean has now made THREE blunders. Beathard over Ross. Smith over Schottenheimer. And now KEEPING Smith and Turner over proven winners that are available.
Three strikes and you're out. I am now rooting against the Chargers. I cannot root for a team where the Owner/President makes such consistently bad decisions. Dean tries hard, and he does spend money (unlike the Padres), but he makes bad decisions all the time. His judgment is AWFUL.
This is the beginning of the end of the San Diego Chargers, and the dawn of the Los Angeles Chargers. There is no way that a ballot initiative for a new stadium will pass now. It's over. Dean will have no choice but to move the team (and I honestly don't think he really wanted to, but as the fanbase turns on him he's going to turn on the city of San Diego). He'll cite lack of fan support and Bolt to LA LA Land by 2015.

Hell, Marty Schottenheimer and Mike Shanahan both failed miserably in Washington under Daniel Snyder's ownership. Baloney. Schottenheimer was fired after his first season (8-8) because Snyder had a hard on for Steve Spurrier. He didn't fail at all.

Didn't they start out something like 2-6 that year but came on strong to finish 8-8?? That's the kind of thing that would get a lot of love around here from the GM and team president!

He replaced Norv, who Snyder later said he never should have fired. But I think more poignant is the fact that NO ONE has succeeded as the head coach of the Redskins since Jack Kent Cooke died (who I heard was a real sonovabitch). You can't judge the guy by his stints with two of the absolute worst franchises in the league. You start at such a disadvantage that it's not fair.

There are two big reasons why they are returning: $12MM owed to them both on their contracts. Rivers is a huge proponent of Norv and made it clear he wanted him back. In my opinion these are the only two reason why they return. Spanos didn't want to spend the money it would've taken to replace those two, nor did he want to piss off Rivers who has already and will continue to get $92 million dollars of Spanos' money.
