www.mlbdailydish.com/2011/12/5/2613572/san-diego-padres-mlb-rumors-orlando-hudson-daniel-murphySo the Padres are now looking at trading Chase Headley (beyond the story linked above it has been reported on 1090 based on other sourceds). Previously they had stated that they had no interest in trading him, but now they do have interest if they get a couple minor leaguers that they're happy with in return. Who will be left? This really is becoming a AAA team. At what point does this stop? As I stated on previous threads the M.O. for the Padres is to trade away developing players as soon as they get good. They have never really reaped the rewards for this 2nd round draft pick, and if they trade him away this offseason they never will. And this would set the team back on that pick by another 3 or 4 years. Headley was a 2005 2nd round pick for the Pads, and they have yet to really benefit from that pick. So much for keeping players as a major contributors for 5 years before losing them. This organization is a joke.

Trading Headley would free up a spot in the short-term for Jedd Gyorko.

Graveyard ballpark, but the peripherals were good. Headley's only going to be traded if the "moon" gets offered in return.

I doubt he gets traded. But if some other team does recognize his worth and is willing to pay, he could go. But as Ryan indicates above, the price will be high.
