With all due respect to Brees, he would face the same problems as Rivers does behind a patch-work third string O-line.

Not necessarily........this line is nowhere NEAR as bad as the 2003 O-line was (put it this way: In 2004, there were 5 new starters on the offensive line). And Brees is more mobile, more athletic, and a LOT more accurate with his throws.

Rivers is a middle of the pack QB. The Chargers always get hot in december. Get ready.

Wasn't Brees coming off a shoulder injury he got in a meaningless game in denver the year before when the let him go?

Wasn't Brees coming off a shoulder injury he got in a meaningless game in denver the year before when the let him go? Home game. Last game of the regular season. Cheap shot by a Donkey defensive lineman who dove on top of Brees late and separated his shoulder. Happened near the end of the game. Total cheap shot bull$#!+ by the Donkeys, very reminiscent of the cheap shot that a Broncos OFFENSIVE lineman took a few years prior to that when he dove on the back of Jamal Williams' leg and dislocated his ankle. Season ending and career threatening injury, totally uncalled for and unnecessary, yet very typical for Mike Shanahan's Broncos.

Doesn't matter how hot we get in December, it's the "not hot" losses that will prevent us from being the pilots of our own destiny.

Drew Brees had a what was said to be potentially career ending shoulder injury. The only two teams that even offered him contracts were New Orleans and Miami. New Orleans told him he would start. Miami said he had a shot at competing for the starting job. So he went to New Orleans.
We had a first round (top five) pick quarterback sitting on the bench ready to go. It was an easy decision.

And it's worked out for both parties. Put Rivers in the same Sean Peyton wide-open system, he'd put up insane numbers as well. Brees and Rivers are both very, very talented.
