Looks like it is 5 years, 25 million of which 15 million is guaranteed. Not to bad.

Will be a great player. Had great coaching from Richard Cornford at West High School in Bakersfied and Pat Hill at FSU. Was a quaterback back in High school ala D.Baxter. Remember sending chuck long emails to have him recruited. I guess never got around to it.

Yes he looks bigger and stronger than LT. But from what I've seen he's only faster than the injured/aging LT of the past two years.

No, he's not LT in his prime, who is, but he's definitely an upgrade over LT the last two years and will be one of the best backs in the league IMHO.

I haven't seen that yet. Maybe some day. Playing for a Superbowl contender doesn't hurt.

While true, that argument equally undercuts the basis for your opinion. I presume we've both watched Matthews play the same preseason games. You've apparently seen enough to believe he will be one of the best backs in the NFL. I haven't seen that yet, although once again playing for the Chargers will help his stats immensely.

I'm also including his play in college. He was a workhorse type back in college that needed 20 or so carries to really "go off." In his limited playing time against 1's he's shown flashes (hard to bring down, getting to the corner) of why I think he'll be a stud. We won't know for sure until the games start counting.

The games started counting. Yes he's been injured. I've had high ankle sprains and they last a long long time. One time I was out for three months. One problem is that you finally think it's healed, but it's not, and then you re-injure it. But from what I saw before the injury, Mathews lacks breakaway speed. He also has a history of injuries dating back to FSU. He also can't block, which is apparently why he was benched yesterday in favor of a third year un-drafted free agent. Let's hope he plays like the #17 pick next year.
