Up 21-10 at half they lay a colossal egg in the 2nd half as both the offense (Rivers, especially) and defense give the game to the Jets.
This is why I'm so dead set against A.J. - He builds division championship contenders, but not legit Super Bowl contenders. He lets too much important talent go and tries to replace them with rookies or with journeymen. That started with Donnie Edwards and has continued every year.
This team is the least talented Chargers team since the early part of the last decade. The team has been losing talent through attrition due to Smith's stubbornness and ego.
He fired Marty and instead of hiring a winning head coach he hired a yes man in Norv. This is ALL A.J.'s team.
Count on a 10-6 record and an early exit from the playoffs.

that Phillip Rivers throw out of bounds on 4th down was one of the strangest plays I've ever seen in a 2 minute offense.

that Phillip Rivers throw out of bounds on 4th down was one of the strangest plays I've ever seen in a 2 minute offense. He couldn't explain himself really, on why he did it. It makes me feel like he just didn't want another interception added to his stats so he just threw it out of bounds. Why else wouldn't you just throw it up there in the end zone for a shot?

So glad I wasn't the only one left scratching my head to that. You're down by a freakin' TD, you run the world's worst two minute offense, then you huck your last legitimate shot out of bounds. Odd.
Hey, I've seen stranger things happen (Mich. St/Wisconsin anybody?).

One more for the side of the argument that life is timing more than anything.

Rivers is definently in a slump, Peyton Manning has had a few of these over the years. Hopefully PR has a break out game soon, that game vs. Jets was weak!

Rivers has regressed. The window for the Chargers has closed. Their opportunities lasted for several years, but their time is up now.
The Turner factor is making it's stamp now, and it will be years before they are serious contenters again.
Until Spanos figures it out, and gets rid of AJ and Turner, it will be a long wait.

I hate to say this about the chargers, but they have become a shell of the team they never were. Everybody just kind of shakes their head when you bring up the chargers in conversation. the Norv syndrome has finally destroyed any type of team chemistry that once existed. This team was destroyed from the inside out, and you can thank the insatiable lust for power that is AJ's cross to carry.
