I know they don't have the same history with these guys that we do, but, damn, why do these douches any favors.......?
Disappointed.

Looks to me that they are setting up a rivalry to continue as a package to the Big 12. JMO

Huge mormon population in Boise. Makes perfect sense to sell tickets.

Boise and BYU are creating a rivalry which will generate a lot of fan interest. We should be trying to create rivalries as well. I know we have yet to beat UCLA but that could turn into a rivalry,

I know we have yet to beat UCLA but that could turn into a rivalry, SDSU needs it's own rival, we don't need to borrow from another rivalry. If not it's a one way rivalry, similar to the Padres hating the Dodgers while LA could care less. Boise-YBU could be on espn every other year, why wouldn't the Broncos want that? Smart move.

Rumor has it that Utah is asking BYU to succomb to a 2-for-1 deal to continue to play Utah.
Um....."no thanks".
So, BYU is essentially telling Utah to go jump in a lake, and that they can establish a new rivalry with another Western power in Boise State....which they just did.
If that is the case, then the Holy War is dead. What a load of crap. One of the best national rivalries....is no more. College football, with it's self serving monetary greed, is really pushing me to the brink.
On the other front...it is rumored that Boise State is also being looked at for a potential Big XII invite. If that is the case, it not only slams the door in Utahs face for suggesting such crap, as well as just setting up in conference match ups.
Still think the Big XII should look West. Grab BYU, SDSU, and BSU. The Big XII going East doesn't make as much sense. It is saturated, you will never be as big as the SEC or Big 10+1. So, go West and take on the Pac 12 head to head. Get a foothold in Cali with SDSU. Gobble up the best of the West that is left in BYU and Boise.
When/if superconfernces come around...then all that is left for the Pac is Vegas and Reno, AFA, maybe the Rams. And only out of those ...Vegas adds any excitement, and they suck in football. I like AFA..but, I just don't know if their following is real, or if they are really ever considered a legit power...even in their good years.
My .02 cents.

A great deal for both schools. Especially as it can carry over nicely to the Big 12 for them when AFA and those 2 get invites. And the Pac 12 is staying at 12. There's no reason for them to got to 16 what so ever.

It's all internet chatter until it actually happens. I still think that strong religious thing and Boise's small market will hold both of them back. Boise will gain nothing with this multi-year agreement. It only makes BYU look like they're a player at Boise's expense. As to that Holy War, it's popularity is a fabrication by the state of Utah. It's only of state or regional interest, at best. Did you know it only garnered a .6% rating? Hardly a national audience.

You may be right. I don't think ESPN did anything to promote it either. BYU laying a massive turd in the opening minutes, which only escalated in the 2nd half didn't help anything either. Even I turned it off mid way through the 3rd quarter.

Boise's small market isn't going to help them get any where....just like Nebraska's small market of Lincoln will prevent them from going on to bigger and better things. oops.

Nebraska's market isn't Lincoln; Michigan's isn't Ann Arbor. Nebraska's TV market is the united states of america. Michigan's TV market is the united states of america. That's why they make jillions of dollars from television networks. Well Boise State is getting there too. Check their ratings on ESPN. They are America's underdog darlings.

Well Boise State is getting there too. Check their ratings on ESPN. They are America's underdog darlings. And the entire state of Idaho is rabid about BSU. They've become a regional team. I know. I hail from Idaho, and everyone in my family is nuts about BSU. In fact, my brother, who lives in Sun Valley, just called me about flying down for the BSU/SDSU game. I reminded him that he went to Idaho St. He replied, "So." I reminded him that I went to SDSU and there would be no cheering for BSU within 50 feet of me. He said, "We don't have to sit together." Crazy.
