I'm sitting here watching the Boston vs. Baltimore game at 8:25 PM and all of a sudden Marshall's running wild during his SDSU days in an advert. I can't believe my eyes, but its an ad for the TCU vs. SDSU game! Apparently the give away to the first 28k fans is a Marshall Faulk signed SDSU hat (fake signature of course).
How freaking cool is that that our Marketing Dept has us on ESPN during a critical prime time baseball game!?!?!?!
Great job and go Aztecs!

There is national and local advertising on TV. So even though you were watching a nationally televised game, most likely SDSU only televised their ad in the San Diego TV market. Still pretty cool though.

Still pretty cool though. Really cool. Ad was for sure only in SD, but one has to think if we want to advertise on ESPN, why don't we want our games there?

Still pretty cool though. I would assume the OP knew it was local. No point to a national ad anyhow. It's a good sign that our marketing department is finally starting to learn. The last commercials on TV for SDSU that I can remember were those "Chuck Long Era" ads. We need to drum up interest and let people know there's good football being played on the mesa now.

We would not have games televised on ESPN....we would have A game televised. I take all games televised in HD over a single (maybe 2 if we play wednesday) games televised all day long. As much as people bring the issue up, it is forgotten that before MTN we didnt get to see most games, and if you lived outside of SD, you were listening to internet radio. Bottom line...the team needs to keep winning like it has for the past 7 games.

We used to get a Thursday night game on the four letter channel and the rest were available for $119 on ESPN GamePlan. That's what I remember.

A few of the games would be available on the GamePlan, the rest were just plain not on TV. I grew up in Yuma and other than the odd Thursday night game, or home games, I wasn't able to see Aztec football. The people crying for us to go back to ESPN are either too young to remember what it was like to be a part of their network or weren't following Aztec football at the time.

You advertise with TV shows oriented towards your target market. In regards to this ad, clearly ESPN is a good fit for that.

Of course it was a local ad, but with the importance of the baseball game and the fact it was a prime time ad, it was pretty aggressive and I would think expensive. Glad to see are Marketing Dept is trying will to spend some coin to make some back.
