The staff likes Trey Dickerson more than Seymour, he has improved a lot over the summer. If an offer comes, I expect an immediate commitment from Trey, right now if everything goes perfect for the staff it will be Willms+Shepard for the last 2 spots, if Shepard decides elsewhere I would expect an immediate offer to Trey.

Fisher basically wrote in his new contract that Dutcher is the coach in waiting. It doesn't take a super genius to figure out Hutson will either need to wait a long time at SDSU or move to another school that could present development opportunities as a head coach.

think Bland is doing a good job-he has very good relations with LA area but now the Nevada area with prep schools has added importance . Fisher was allowed to chose Dutcher over Hutson(who wants to be #2 and then head coach) but does that mean we also have M Fisher for how long , nice guy but we need either some one from the NBA or AAU - circuit, to help Bland -recruit. Arizona, UCLA have added AAU coaches and both are expected to have top 10 recruiting classes. UNLV added a former NBA player as coach , a coach with East Coast ties and Hutson - According to most websites, they are still in the running for a few 150 top recruits -

Bland could be the best thing to happen to SDSU basketball (coaching wise). The guy is connected with everyone in L.A. He is going to land some big time players for us.

Completely agree that Bland has been an invaluable addition to our staff. His vast LA connection will be a huge advantage to us in our quest to remain one of MWC's top teams and our pursuit of an annual NCAA bid.

he does have great connections in LA(may want to call Zena Edosomwan from the LA area) but we also need connection to the preps in Nevada. How much does Mark Fisher add to the recruiting

While I don't disagree that the preps in Nevada are important, I think it's even more important that we try to maintain the ties to the Central Valley area that Hutson created, and develop ties to the LA and San Diego area. Las Vegas has serious talent, but it also has a big time D1 school on the rise with a rich tradition. Los Angeles is a hotbed and if we can start pulling some of the recruits there to the Mesa we'd be in good shape. We won't be an elite program if we're focused on pulling recruits out of Vegas, we could be if we can consistently get top flight talent out of LA and keep UNLV, USC, UofA from doing the same. I don't mind splitting LA with UCLA; there's enough to go around.

We need to recruit SoCal,Central Valley,Inland Empire , Texas and the major Prep schools- (look at the talent at Findlay Prep). Bland and S. Fisher can not do it alone. Arizona, UCLA, UNLV,UNM are very agressive. Would not even mind if Brian Carlwell put in a good word with a couple of great recruits in IL(Jabari Parker or Thomas Hamilton),if that is legal with NCAA.
