Now that I've sufficiently calmed down. First, Hooley's in Grossmont Center was PACKED. SRO in there, easily 200 plus people. Loud and a good environment. Now on to the game...
This team has a long ways to go. I've been a very big fan of #14 since he came here, but he flat out did not get the job done today. Footwork was sloppy, his decision making just wasn't there. Receivers ran poor/wrong routes and dropped some balls that changed the game, but your senior QB has to be better in a game such as this.
With that being said, this game was lost at the line of scrimmage. Michigan's defensive front, to put it bluntly, destroyed our offensive line. They were manhandled and we just were not physical enough at the point of attack. Need to get stronger, need to develop a "meaner" mindset if you want to compete with a smash-mouth team like we faced today. Same can be said for the other side of the ball. Need bigger and stronger defensive linemen so you don't just get pushed off the ball at the snap.
Playcalling, honestly....left me scratching my head. Ludwig, in my opinion, did not have a great game today. A lot of the plays were predictable and not well-timed within the flow of the game. An offensive coordinator has to put his players in the best position possible to make plays, just don't think that happened often enough today.
Defense, in the second half, played their asses off. Phenomenal job of shutting down everything that was thrown at them. Still, this team cannot tackle, cannot wrap up, and that goes back to not being physical enough.
Tough game to stomach today, another miss on the national stage...Michigan was just flat out better today and I was disappointed we weren't able to contain/tackle Denard.
