Not that this would happen, but just something to ponder.
If SDSU was invited to the Big Least, does SDSU leave for an AQ conference on the verge of death or stay and build the MWC?
What to do?

That travel would kill any chance we would have to be competitive. So absolutely not with respect to the Big East. The Big 12 sure - but still rough travel.

The big least is on the east coast ...we are on the west coast...that is just for starters....one can ponder this for hours...!
I would push the keyboard away pour myself a large adult beverage and ponder us putting a thumpin on the wolverines..!!
Pour me one also....a make it a double....much easier to ponder!!
Go Aztecs..!!

The fact that AFA is being considered for the BE means that dying conference is willing to reach Hawaii if need be to survive.
But the Oracle agrees, realistically, BE would not approach SDSU due to distance. With that said, the prospect of entereing the lowest level of the AQ conferences vs. building a stronger non-AQ conference should garner a healthy debate.

would be a bad gamble in my estimation. i don't think the BE will be around much longer... don't see the TV revenue draw for what's left of the conference.

Aztecs76, the student athlete issue is interesting. As these mega-conferences form and the schools rake in the money, it will come at the expense of the student athletes who will have to travel greater distances and take more time off school to play.
With these conferences demanding billions of dollars, the issue of paying student athletes needs to be addressed. It seems like everyone else is making MUCH more money, but the "student athlete's" situation does not change. These kids are going to be burdened even more and in the Oracle's opinion, these kids do need more compensation for their services.
The Oracle believes that it is time for college athletes to create their own union/association just like the in the pros. Everyone else's interests are being cared for except the students. These kids are being exploited and need to be organized.

Nothing to validate my thought but it wouldn't surprise me that SDSU is in discussion with the Big 12. A program in the west coast(us) that could give the Big 12 a west coast presence has to be attractive. Read Sterk's last comments about him being proactive on the phone to find the best course for SDSU.

Never happen. Big 12 a better option. Even a revised Big 12 with MWC teams.

These kids are being exploited and need to be organized. I totally agree with your assessment. The problem, as I see it right now, is these players, (students, kids?), don't seem to feel that they're being exploited, at least publicly. I posted some time ago that they're essentially being prostituted by the "aura" of big time college athletics. (I would imagine prostitutes for the most part don't feel exploited either). Until there's some visible movement on the part of student athletics, ("I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore"), the bottom feeders will continue the money grab with no thought to how it impacts the golden goose. (I dunno, maybe one day we'll be waiting for the players to come out for the big game and they instead remain in the locker room intent on not returning to the field until some changes are made in the distribution of the BIG pie).
